Waxy hard butt hair?!

I have a few guinea pigs. I used to have 2, Alistair and Mr.Popo. I had to put mr.Popo (my abbysinian guinea pig) down please he ended up getting 2 caners, 1 in his throat and 1 in his belly. Poor little guy. After that I just had Alistair (my american guinea pig) and he needed a friend, and I needed a new piggie because of my poor little Mr.Popo. So I adopted a guinea piggie that was abandoned by his owners. He is a Peruvian typed guinea pig and his owners brought him to the pet store to treat him for mites, and they never came back for him! So took Brownie home. So I currently have 2 guinea pigs. Alistair and Brownie.

Anyways, so that's that. But out of all my guinea pigs, I've never seen this before. Is it because of the type that he is? You'd think that an exotic type like a Peruvian would have this problem, but no, it is the simple standard American Guinea Pig that has it. That's why I fear something is very wrong and not normal.

So here is my problem, Alistair has waxy, hard, sticky, bendy, butt hair/fur!
He didn't always have it. I noticed it some time last summer. I bathed him (I bath all my guineas) and I thought maybe I didn't get all the shampoo out right, because of the sticky weirdness. So I bathed just the back of him where it was to see if it would come out, this time just warm water and no soap. So while I was washing him I didn't feel the waxy stuff anymore. But once he was all clean and dry, it was still there!
It's not from the soap because it'd be all over him, and my other guinea pigs would get it especially because they have LONG hair, and the one that has it has short hair.
The area that it's on it not near his face and not on his back. It's literally all around the area of where his butthole (sorry but I am trying to explain it) But on his fur it's there too near the butt, like covering his whole backside. When I touched his fur, like when I am petting him and run my fingers down his back, I can smell the substance. It's not bad, or infection smelling. It's a hard to explain smell. It's hard to expalin.
It doesn't seem to both him though, when I trim his hair back there or part the hair or touch it, so it's not painful to him. I don't know though if it's sweat, something from his butt or private. Uhm..

But anyways, I am hoping someone can tell me if this is normal or not. Or if their guinea pig or other pet has had it or if they know what the heck it is!

Please help, nicely, without scaring me.

Sounds like a classic case of dingleberries to me.

This a normal thing for male piggies, it's just buildup from his grease gland, which is a little lump where he would have a tail if he was a bunny or something. Just use extra shampoo on the area the next time you give him a bath and try to get it really clean, but be careful to rinse all the soap off his privates really well, because if you don't it could cause skin irritations.

Well guinea pigs and hamsters can get a diarrhea-like thing called 'Wet tail' and they can get it due to stress, or they can just get it. It might be that? Just take it to your vets and see what he says.

It doesn't sound like an emergency:)

Maybe he has a urinary tract infection or something like that. Take him to a vet if it doesn't go away or if he starts to seem sick (slow, sleepy, crusty eyes, etc). Good luck with the piggies!:)

I don't know anything about guinea pigs but you should check with a pet store or veterinarian or like the other poster said to google it. Hope everything turns out okay.
