What age do you stop being young?

General consensus, from what I've seen, is that you start being old when you hit between 50 and 65 depending on who you ask. That makes sense to me, you're coming up on retirement age, your kids are moving out, the ol' body doesn't work as good as it used to. But at what age are you officially no longer young? Personally I'd say about 30 to 35.

20 2
25 to 30 6
30 to 35 11
35 to 40 2
40 to 45 10
45 to 50 1
older than 50 5

In my opinion, it's completely dependent on the person. Some get old before their time, and some can still keep up with young people! I know people old enough to be considered senior citizens that are healthier than/can out-work many people my age (late 20's). The same goes for animals as well, I had horses that were still being ridden well into their 20's and even 30's, and still acted like they were 10. I think a lot of it, for both people and animals, comes down to staying active.

As someone who will be 28 this year, 30 to 35 still seems young to me. 🤣 However, at 19, I thought everyone in that age range was super mature and worldly, had their shit together. That isn't so, though there are people like that in every age bracket.

The media, cosmetics/skincare companies, etc. love to push the narrative that youth is over after 25 (especially for women), but I think that's mostly a sales pitch to corner the younger market, as well as extremely inaccurate. 25 is just the beginning if you ask me (especially in terms of maturity), and most people don't start to noticeably age physically for many years after that (not talking about a few fine lines you have to be inches away from the mirror to see, but actually having a noticeably "aged" look).

So, as for the general consensus of what isn't considered "young" anymore, I think it largely depends on who you ask and what their idea of youth is.

I think you stop literally being young around 40, but you officially stop being "a young man" at 30.

I think 30 is the cutoff.

30 is when you are supposed to have you shit together. I see a news story about a 30 year old dying I dont think. Ah it was just a kid. No it's not a young adult. Just a standard adult.

Dead at 30 still seems too young to me, for me the “before their time” cut off is 70. Even that doesn’t seem super old, but I do know a fair few people in their 70s so I may be biased.

I dont look for a cause of death after 60. I just kinda expect people to drop dead after 60.

That’s a solid 20 years under the UK life expectancy.

Price of freedom of choice. You can eat garbage, smoke all you want, and drive fast cars. Yeah our average life expectancy is not going to be the highest.

Well, in spirit - I’ve met some very old young people and some very young old people but physically I’ll say 40, as it’s when the human condition starts to deteriorate a little, I believe

I kinda view it as I have 8 more years of youth because 40 seems to be when your body stops working in prime form. A lot of athletes retire at 40 because their body cant handle the stress anymore. Im gonna get on TRT around 45 I think at 40 I'll still have a lot in the tank. Im too vain to look like a soyboy with the flab or whateber.
