What are some food ideas?

I'm looking for things that are quick to cook, nourishing, preferably with meat

Things that take like 20-30 minutes to cook and eat, not dinners per se but little things I can eat for lunch or for when I get home from work

I'm thinking about like sausage sandwiches, dinner sausages with peppers, onions, and pasta sauce in a hoagie, but what else? (Also too many of those and I feel bloated like I had too much pork)

I feel like I eat a lot of rice and mashed potatoes, I normally cook big pan things of like ground beef or stew meat with veggies, broth/stock, and tomato sauce but same thing I feel like I'm eating too much red meat and starch

So instead I want to find things I can cook in small amounts that are varied enough to make me feel nourished and not weighed down with too much of one thing but when I Google this I get huge, family of at least 4 dinner recipes and I'm like "this is what I'm trying to avoid!"

So, any ideas?

I also bought stuff for grilled cheese and ham, and I usually have a pitcher of sweet tea

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Sausage is so greasy, it gives me indigestion.

Salads can be really nice especially in hot weather, and you can vary what you have in them. Ham, egg, cheese, tuna are just some examples but there are plenty of other options of cold meats and things. You can also vary the actual salad ingredients as well, I always have lettuce but you can get different types such as rocket, iceberg etc you can also put in spinach if you want. Then you can add radish, cucumber, peppers, spring onions, nuts, raisins, beetroot, mushrooms, chopped potatoes, tomatoes, gherkins, pickled onions, raw carrot. You just have to pick a few choices. That way you can mix it up and make different varieties of salad every time.

Other nice things are beans on toast, omelet, boiled eggs, french stick with cheese or cold meat, jacket potatoes with some sort of topping. If you really think about it there are loads of options that are really quite healthy. Failing that, if you don’t care how much rubbish you put in your body there is always ready meals that go in the microwave for a few minutes or dehydrated stuff like Pot Noodles etc

I often slow roast a pork shoulder with just salt and pepper during the weekend that I can dress up during the week with Mexican flavors to make tacos or salads, with Asian flavors in lettuce wraps, or with bbq sauce with some cabbage slaw with or without a bun.

    What about some tuna salad?

( that is fairly easy to make especially because it takes less than an hour to do. )

    • I don't like fish 😝

Except in sushi form, but I'm avoiding sushi right now

So fish is ruled out Mr.Shinobi

What about some stir fry noodles?

Or some chicken katsu curry? ( I don't know I'm just using ideas and passing it on and that I sometimes cook once in a while. )

Or maybe some ginger and turmeric carrot soup that I sometimes make in my spare time.

        • Ooh I love curry but it takes hours to cook

Stir fry noodles are a good idea, I could probably get like a big flank steak and make different things out of it

Hmm what else is good with sliced steak that isn't oriental, a broth+tomato sauce with green beans and carrots over rice or mashed potatoes (kinda rules out curry too)

I know about pasta, but that's also pretty time consuming

I'm looking for stuff that's like prepare, have it cooked, and eaten pretty fast

I'm living a busy life and I need stuff that's quick and good, I'm getting super tired of restaurant food

            Are you into wraps?

Maybe making grilled houmous wraps sounds delicious but also easy to make.

            I don't know if you're into that.
