It's easy. Instant (For the most part).
Automatic log-in. And I enjoy the content. Even the trolls. they make me laugh. It gives me the extra entertainment I need to be the right amount of lazy.

The site works really well, as is. All the functionality (the Notices box, My Stuff, notifications by email) really give you a sense of what's going on with your posts on the site. I especially like being notified when someone comments on something I wrote, say, last year. There was no way I'd ever have come across it otherwise.

The minor things I considered like allowing us avatars, or being able to play Youtube inline, wouldn't add much and they'd detract from the way the site currently looks (it's neat, clear and well-designed). Besides we kind of already do that with our colours. I didn't realise how much this would go on, but I really identify people by their colour and always notice when it changes. People are so used to me as purple that I can't change that (and don't really want to... the "yellow" experiment lasted a day only). It's almost become part of my identity here and I don't need or want an avatar.

I guess private, monitored contact would be useful to some (especially if it stayed anonymous). Sometimes I want to ask someone a question but don't because it means their answer will be in the public domain and I don't want them to feel pressured into saying something they don't want made public.

It's up to others to say, but it could be useful to have the option to "email" a user and that to fire off an email to their actual registration email address (without ever revealing it). Even cleverer if replies sent by their email client could be routed via IIN to the originator of the first message. That's probably overkill, though. And also, it draws people away from the site and into their mail client. Maybe some very simple mailboxey-type thing thing. An online game I used to play (Simunomics) had a very simple way of handling this kind of thing and screenshots are probably in the freely available manual. If not, it's free to sign up and have a poke around anyway.
