    Urinary and faecal incontinence
    Immobility
    Poor dexterity
    cognitive impairment
    Complete dependence on nursing staff to assist with activities of daily life eg. toileting, washing, oral care, dressing, undressing, eating and drinking.

    Don't get old.

    You can be young and have a lot of knowledge about a lot of things. You can be young and ugly (which would be quite unfortunate). Depression doesn't discriminate. Wisdom is the only thing that comes with age and experience.

    I work in long term care so my first thought was nursing homes. Eek! I would like to be put out my misery before being admitted to one.

    Second I have to add this. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so its really subjective. Secondly not all people age poorly and some people don't get a lot of wrinkles or go bald when they are older either.

    Being closer to certain death has one advantage; it is easier to accept and not fear. Not to say I welcome it, but having a great life behind me and living a good one now, I feel that I will not have wasted my life when I go. It's been a good ride, all in all.
