Threw snails against a brick wall then took their picture.
Riding my bike on adventures.
Playing with lego.
Climbing trees.
Imagination.
Ohh forgot loved watching .... HAY HAY ITS SATURDAY (Australian thing)
Dogsledding, digging tunnels in the snow, climbing trees, not being in constant physical pain, breaking rocks open, building little towns for bugs.
I’ve always loved being outdoors and I’ve always loved animals. I wanted to be the guy who decorated animal enclosures at the zoo because the thought of knowing who likes what plants and making caves and hills for critters was the most interesting thing to me.
Played alone in the bathroom during free time. Pretended and imagined I was in fantasy universes and stories that had fictional races, kingdoms, magic, monsters, etc by imagining the scenarios as I played with water. I was the hero, heroine, supporting characters, villains, final boss, animals, monsters and everything that needed to be characterized.
The story was episodic. One free time bathing trip for one episode. After one main story ended, I started new stories with new characters. So nostalgic.
Even as an adult now, I still love the hell out of fantasy-related stuff. I find myself expressing such ideas through drawing, making comics and writing short story/novel for fun now. Some people also said that I am good at acting. I am sure playing and acting with myself in the bathroom too much back then was the contributing factor for being good at acting.
we made rafts to take on the river go for long bike rides made carts out of pram wheels and camps in the woods we use to make a fire and cook food
I did the following activities for fun as a kid:
a) played board games - usually Scrabble, Uno, Checkers, Monopoly, action figures like He-Man, and a few other games. With other kids of course. I was thankfully not born among today's generation of kids who can't get off their addiction to smartphone games.
b) Played actual sports - mostly racquetball, soccer, volleyball. Again I am glad there was no smartphones or Internet when I was a kid.
c) Volunteered
d) Trap hunting squirrels and stuff (does anyone do that anymore?)
We used to hide in the bushes at the side of a busy road and throw stuff at cars or light fires, and just general vandalism and dumb shit like shoplifting. We also used to fill normal balloons with water and drop them off a bridge on people. There was a piece of wasteland near where I lived and we used to get big branches, metal poles and other large objects and make a road block and then when people got out of their cars we would throw stuff at them or just laugh at them. I could tell you some crazy stories from my childhood.
Pretending to go on adventures with my favorite fictional characters, and hum what they were saying.
I liked to go out in the woods and take off all my clothes and walk around naked, pissing and shitting and jacking off. I still like doing that today. I absolutely Love being nude outdoors!! the best is when I'm jacking off and taking a shit both at the same time!! Feels so good!!
I used to get dropped at the library a lot. It was my sanctuary. I used to read all the books about animals I could get my hands on. I also read lots of history and of course Batman comics for fun.
I still do this a lot, but it was different being there as a child.
I had a few hobbies.
One was horseback riding (specifically hunters, though I have dabbled in a few disciplines), which I still do, but unfortunately not nearly as often as I used to. I very much enjoy it and wish I could ride more.
Another that I no longer participate in was ice skating. It doesn't interest me anymore and I don't like the idea of falling on my ass and being sore the next day (though that happens occasionally with horses, but for some reason the idea of falling while ice skating is scarier to me, lol).
I used to take graphic design classes in high school and loved computer type stuff. I think I'd still enjoy it, but have unfortunately forgotten almost everything I knew.
I also played violin throughout junior high and high school, and although I loved it then, my interest now has waned. I've thought about picking it back up, but I always change my mind. I used to play all the time and even played solo in front of a crowd of over 1,000 people (or it could've been more, I don't remember) for a town celebration once, but I lost all of my confidence and interest very unexpectedly and now if I do play my violin every once in a great while, I don't want anyone to hear.
climbing trees and throwing small rocks at cars passing by. pissing on bus stops. Eating one bite out of every apple in the fruitbowl. Dancing the hokey pokey at the school disco. Digging underneath the school. Caught slater bugs and made insect farms. Rigged up elaborate pulley systems to trees to harvest nuts and berries.
Erected civilizations in beach sand. Swam in rivers, swung from rope swings into the water. Set fire to toy soldiers. Played indoor hand soccer, outdoor backyard cricket. Drew collectible cards. Drew, drew, and drew some more.
Read a lot of books...go to the library, use my stuffed animals as puppets and act out stories with them, play outside...play with my sister...my imagination was a great form of entertainment when there were no other options... i would visualize a character running, climbing, flying around.
If I still enjoyed these things even remotely as much as I did before, I would still do them
video games
cartoons
wrestle with friends & family
play with pets
(Still do all these things though)
I'd look for bugs in the garden. I had a book about bugs where you had to try to find all the different types of bugs that were in the book, like bird watching but with bugs. That was fun.
Also drawing and colouring.
all the kids in the neighborhood would throw rocks at eachother
if i tried it now theyd all be like ima sue you this and aggrivated assault that
We used to throw rocks on our neighbours houses because they all had tin roofs.. Teachers that lived in our neighbourhood coped it the worst.
there was a craze while i was in elementary school where the kids in the neighborhood would tie eachother into lawn chairs with clothesline and try to escape
im sure someone saw it in a movie or tv show and plus david copperfield was big then so it was monkey see monkey do
parents found out and (lookin back at it and knowin now) were low key thinkin it was some kinda weird s&m thing which is fuckin hilarious to think 8 year olds had capacity for that nonsense
nice parallel to the satanic panic in the same era
Riding my bike with my sister, reading, walking my dog, exploring wooded areas and abandoned homes, buying slurpees from the 7-11, and hanging out with older kids and causing trouble. XD
Lots of sports, raised hell with friends, jumped over shit on my bike. When it was just me I liked to draw, paint, and garden.
Explored the creeks, rode my bike, made mud pies, climbed trees, went swimming...
I took ballet lessons, and played with my animals. I also liked to read a lot, and catch grasshoppers.
Reading, playing with legos, drawing, exploring the outdoors, movie night.
