Yellow normally. Though I think the official way of saying it on the New Zealand road code is Amber.

Also about this "yield" business, I thought an Amber light meant "Prepare to Stop".

Not for most, it means speed up or you won't make the red light at the next intersection

  • The U.S. Dept. Of Transportation's official name for it is "stale green" (seriously).
    Everyone calls it yellow.

I thought a stale green light was just a green light that's been green long enough that you can expect it to turn yellow at any moment.

  • Why would I yield? Is the traffic light going to engage me in battle.
