What do you think about wicca?

The only issue I have with Wicca is a relatively minor one: Gerald Gardner tossed some genuine folk traditions and a few he invented into a cauldron, stirred in a selection of esoteric stuff from the Golden Dawn and earlier ceremonial magic sources, seasoned it with some vaguely credible faux history, gave it a good stir, and claimed to have rediscovered an ancient religion. Gardner was publicity-seeking, politically right-wing, and a confirmed fibber, but that's pretty trivial compared to how thoroughly nasty the founders of other religions have been, and his creation is generally pretty harmless.

When it comes to religions, that's about as good as it gets.

(Younger Wiccans are perhaps inclined to be a little bit, "Look at meeeee!" but I think that's mainly a result of their age, not the religion as such.)

As far as I'm concerned, all religions are different flavors of BS, but I think people should be free to believe whatever foolishness they choose, just so long as their irrational beliefs don't have a direct impact on the lives of others. Wicca clearly gives meaning and purpose to the lives of some people, and that's fine by me.

I won't be looking for a local coven, but if I had to choose whether I wanted to be marooned on a desert island with a Wiccan or a Christian, Jewish, or Islamic fundamentalist, I'd definitely pick the Wiccan.

I'm an atheist but I have no problem with anyone who chooses to be religious in order to find some kind of inner peace.

By all means believe whatever you want. I won't join in with your prayers or scripture reading, but if it gets you through your problems then I respect that and I'll let you deal with them in whichever way you choose.

Just another fairy tale like all religion. But if it makes you feel good, then practice whatever you like. Feelin goods good enough!

I’m not religious myself, but I do find all religions to be really interesting. I studied wicca a little bit a while back, and it’s actually kinda cool. I still don’t know too much about it, but from what I can tell, it’s really accepting, and surprisingly peaceful. I have absolutely no problem with it.

I'm not a Wiccan, but my sister is, and from what I know it's actually a really interesting religion. It's not overly controlling in its teachings, like a lot of others can be, and Wicca beliefs definitely seem like good ones to follow. I'm definitely glad that it's coming back to popularity, even if I don't necessarily believe in it.

I think as Wicca can engulf anything from solitary practioners to actual witches covens and can involve everything from white to gray to black magic that it's pretty broad. I don't necessarily believe in magic, but as far as that stuff goes the worst thing people can do is to focus their energy on stuff that would involve affecting another person's free will.

Now the skeptics, our atheist friends, could argue that if its not really real then what is the harm, and while I think that is a legitimate argument I also think that it can harm the practioner if not spiritually then at least psychologically to hold onto the notion that one can make manifest a change in someone else's freewill. The perfect example of spellcraft which involves the manipulation, real or imagined, of another person's free will is the love spell. While many books on spellcraft caution against such things bookstores are full of cutesy little pink and red books which explain how to do just that.

I've met and been friends with wiccans, so honesty I can say I myself prefer some of them to fundamentalists, but fundamentalists of all faiths are a scourge upon the earth and give a bad name to people of faith in general.

I think in general that it depends on the individual, but generally it's not the worst thing, nor is it the best thing either. I don't really believe in it, and for me it would certainly be sinful on a Judeo-Christian level, and a distraction of the delusional sort on the emotional and personal level.

Realizing that I'm powerless over people, places and things has been much more of a good thing than trying to manipulate such things ever could be. I still struggle everyday with my own inner demons, but acceptance is the key to many if not all that troubles me.

Okay that is my jacked up and sideways rant.

I've always like Wicca solely because of that passage. It's the only religion that doesn't have a load of pointless rules that shame you about doing things that don't even harm anyone anyway, so it's the only one I can abide.

I hold that each should choose what you follow. I'm an eclectic Wiccan. But here is the full Rede.

I am Wiccan and have been for years. I believe in the three fold law otherwise known as Karma.

What do you know about Wicca? Can you change people's appearances, can you be invisible and trespass onto people's properties, can you talk to people without opening your mouth, can you read people's thoughts. I am a victim of this. Please tell me what you know.

I knew a dominatrix who was Wiccan who invoked the goddess in her sessions. The whippings were cleansing but intense yet she was a loving lady.
We did one session dedicated to female domination at the beach. I gave her my full permission to do the ritual including the whipping. I cut Z two switches knealt at her feet as she closed the magic circle. Both of us were skyclad. I was blindfolded bound to a tree then mercilessly caned from my shoulders down to my legs leaving stinging red welts honoring the goddess. I meditated as I was whipped honoring femdom principals and the goddess. I was quite shaken when Z finished. When she cut me loose I was at her feet wrapping my arms around her legs literally shaking from the caning. She then did a ritual claiming the defeated male by taking me with a dildo.
Afterwards we both took a cleansing dip in the ocean.
I had more respect for dominant woman after the ritual and especially for Mistress Z. There was definitely a real power exchange.

I am a Wiccan. I have been for years. I am also a witch and wizard. I am not an expert, as we can always learn more. But if you would like to talk I have a few years under my belt.
