My mom has some pet chickens and they are cute, though! She sends me home with eggs sometimes.
I went through a chicken phase as a kid where I just LOVED chickens and would point them out when passing nearby farms, liked to make chicken noises (which pissed my family off something fierce after awhile 🤣), and had a chicken piano in which every key had a "bawk"!

What do you think of the grinder method to get rid of male baby chicks?
Honestly that's pretty humane. Chicks as delicate as peeps getting sucked into a grinder, pretty instantaneous.

Brutally efficent. Honestly it seems more humane than to put them in a gas chamber where they go to sleep. In the grinder they just take a lil ride and drop, minced and turned into mink food in less than a second.
Some carnivores get something to eat and the factory doesnt have to worry about the male chicks fighting eachother brutally until they kill eachother.

Quite a mixture, we have/have had golden comets, buff orpington, blue splash maran, copper maran, olive egger, dark brahma bantams, cuckoo marans, and a few others

Evolution wise? They won the jackpot!
Sure most chickens live a miserable life inside factories being crushed to death or minced when barely out the egg.... BUT they are far more successful as a species as they out populate humans 3 to 1.
In the cold reality of survival of the fittest turns out you can win by being easily domesticated and tasting great.
