What do you think of pictures of yourself on display

...In your home? Whenever I see a film in which there's a big star (the character not the actual actor) they always have huge pictures or portraits of themselves in the main living room. Is it normal for people who are not so famous to do it? Do you know anyone who has themself on display on their walls? What do you think of it? is it normal to want to admire yourself and become your own wall art?

I think in movies it's done to show the character as a confident or strong individual, and perhaps self-centred too. In real life, if I happened to be in a house where the owner had a huge portrait of themselves I'd probably turn around and walk straight back out; either they're arrogant as fuck or Dracula.

Famous or not, it's weird and speaks of narcissism.

What about family portraits? Lots of people plaster pictures of themselves on the wall. Most of us don't have the funds to do it that fancy. But I bet most people have at least one picture that includes them in their home.

I think it's quite normal, if you have your portrait done on velvet. You should have several scattered around your trailer, along with your favorite art, you know, "Dogs Playing Poker" and Elvis on velvet, too.

I do not think it's that weird or arrogant. My sister got self-potrait as a gift a year ago which was a mosaic consisting of pictures of other people.

Normal to a very slight degree but at the same time, it's really not normal, and it is kind of unhealthy.

i would agree it would seem a little narcissistic to have a giant self portrait on your wall, especially if its lit up.

  • I have photos of my boyfriend and myself in a few photo albums, and if we had space to display photos of us in picture frames I would. Individual photos of just him or just myself displayed would be really weird though. It seems vain and conceited to display pictures of yourself on the walls for everyone to see. In a photo album? Yes, maybe. On the walls? No. My gran is photo obsessed and has tons of photos of me from when I was 12 and 13 displayed allover her place. They're super embarrassing because I had acne, braces and frizzy dirty brown hair. Granted, she does ask me repeatedly for photos of myself and my boyfriend but whenever I am available to go print some with her, she forgets or doesn't have time. So I'm stuck with a bunch of embarrassing photos of me on her walls.

Get a huge portret of yourself and photoshop it so it looks like you're holding the earth in your hands. That's what I'm going to do when I have my own place.
