What do you think of the metaverse thing?

It's actually kinda confusing to me. I don't quite understand how it works or how it will enhance human relations. My friends were saying that one day we can use the metaverse to see concerts, shop inside a store, and visit other countries without ever setting foot outside. I'm a socially awkward introvert like them too but I like the idea of actually walking and driving to places. I like the actual feeling of seeing a band live, I like trying my clothes on before I buy them, and saving up money for vacations(I feel accomplished when I do). Maybe it's my age showing but I don't quite understand.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

The metaverse is for sad people living sad lives. At the end of their lives they'll have nothing but a bleak memory of something that never happened. They've been in a virtual womb their entire lives dreaming of a fantasy.

Its gonna make people more socially awkward and increase the number of 40 year old virgins.

The people who grow up in the metaverse (those who are like 10 now) wont develop people skills and thus wont get laid in the future. Increasing the number of old virgins and incels

I know, but what's the problem with being a virgin? That's why I said I didn't understand his point on the whole virgin thing. Is that supposed to be a bad thing or something?

Theres a difference between choosing independently to not have sex and not having the opportunity to have sex. One is a choice the other isnt.

People are always apprehensive about these things before they take a grip on the mainstream and then suddenly you need them to get by
I don’t like it any more than I liked the internet replacing my video shop but now I have movies on demand all the time but still miss the video store wait what was it I was saying

The younger generation dont even jerk off to real women anymore. They jerk off to cartoon porn. Theyre perfect for the Metaverse

Hey be kind to people who jack off to every variety of porn. I just spin the wheel and if it just so happens to land on "big titty anime chicks" I'll role with it as god intended

There is nothing like attending a live event.

Watching something on a screen is not even close to the same level of experience.

You also get great social interaction and meet new potential friends at live events.

I've always wanted VR and AR to become mainstream in society, but I'm annoyed by all this talk lately about a 'Metaverse' because I don't see any reason for it. There hasn't been any advnaced technology released to justify it, it's all hype with no substance. It's such obvious fake hype as well, all generated by the corporations using the buzzword "Metaverse". There's not much difference in the state of VR between now and five years ago, and it didn't really take off back then so why should it now? I think people will realise all this soon enough and all the excitement for it will quickly die out, which is really annoying because it will damage the reputation of VR. People will think VR is shit because it doesn't live up to the pie-in-the-sky promises of the corporations.

Also, even though it's always been my dream to be able to explore a fantasy VR world, I'd honestly rather VR doesn't become mainstream or advanced if the only reason it does is because it's being run by the most evil privacy-invading corporations in the world. They're an insult to VR. The whole point of VR is to escape reality for a while, making us free to explore the worlds created by our own imaginations. But their VR would be like a prison, you'd be more free in the real world. So yeah, even if VR does become completely ubiquitous in society, until there's a free and open VR world, my dream will go unfulfilled.

Go into the pod, eat the bugs, live your "life"

In all good fun I read how a female reporter got "gangraped" on the metaverse. So from what I gathered its VR chat. Get a virtual safe space and I'll be living my life outside of a box.

Lmao I just looked it up. Facebook and the chic were so dramatic in how they addressed the situation. They made it out like she actually got gangraped and has PTSD. She said shes had anxiety ever since she was gangraped 😂

Now theyre trying to create a safe space inside the safe space.
