What do you think this dream means?

I was riding in a car with my ex and we were letting a baby drive. It was cute at first (like letting a kid "drive" in the yard) but then I realized how dangerous this was as we began to approach some traffic. The baby was steering well enough, but it then occurred to me that the baby couldn't reach the brakes. I mentioned this so my ex got up front and at first began helping the baby from the passenger side and then decided to take the baby's place in the driver's seat because the traffic ahead was getting heavier.

He pulled out another floor pedal, which was the clutch in my dream (the car was automatic and, having never driven a stick irl I've always associated the clutch with the brake pedal because that's how someone simplified it to me when I was younger). He pulled out the "clutch" pedal because he preferred to push the gas with his right foot and the brakes with his left. I thought he was stupid for wanting to drive with both feet.

Some background info: we have a 5 y/o together and a decision regarding my child has been weighing on me heavily. The ex in I are in complete disagreement about this decision, but he's been supporting my position (to my face at least) despite him feeling I'm completely wrong. My instincts tell me I'm doing the right thing, but I'm trying to be more objective just in case I am wrong. It's difficult because either choice could sort of fuck up my kid's life to some extent and there is no clear way to get the truth.

Maybe you're feeling out of control and that's why you're the passenger.

The question is not whom or why, but where? Where were you going? That's the real question you have to ask yourself.

My only interpretation is that driving dreams tend to have something to do with what is occupying your conscious mind (ie your childs health, future etc etc)

The fact that you felt uncomfortable means you need to look to change the way you believe on some things (which you also explained to us in your post)

    tl;dr?

Most the time dreams don't mean anything to us, but of course your issues at home are effecting your sleep and when the consciousness is away the sub-consciousness comes will play. The sub-conscious though is very good at problem solving, and it will go over things that are troubling you over and over again in sequences and these sequences are played out to us in the form of dreams.

    tl;tl;dr?

Dreams are just dreams, try not to worry about it. Good luck.
