What do you think would be a good name to rename the united states?

The reason I come up with these polls is after living in Latin America, everybody argues that they're American because the continents are both named North America and South America. That's why I posted the previous polls about what they should renamed. Thank you to those who responded when others tried to make a mockery out of them both. What do you think they should rename the United States so that everyone can be happy, and no more PC thought police will be breathing down anybody's necks?

Campusia (Latin for "Land of the Fields") 1
Tusona (acronym for "The United States of North America") 0
Fredonia ("Land of the Free" from the Marx brothers) 1
Sclavia (after the Sclavia Craton) 0
Usonia (another acronym for "United States of North America") 0
Nacirema ("American" backwards) 4
Hesperia (Latin for "Land of the Evening/Sunset") 4
Avalon (from the Arthurian legend about a far away land in the west) 2

Just change the states to sovereign countries since that's where we're headed anyway. Like what happened to U.S.S.R.

The UK experience with Brexit has shown that the creation (or reestablishment, in our case) of national borders is great in terms of job-creation. You need a lot more bureaucrats to fart about trying to create new rules, lots of lawyers to argue about them in court, a lot more customs and immigration officials to check passports and goods crossing the border, lots of IT people to design and implement border systems (which will never really work as specified), a lot more staff in haulage firms to deal with all the new form-filling and a lot more truckers to make up for all the time wasted waiting at crossing points.

Of course, there is the small question of who the hell pays for all this completely unnecessary additional overhead. But similarly to how "FREEDOM!" is the rallying cry of a certain portion of the American public, so "SOVEREIGNTY!" is what their British soul-mates howl whenever you mention these inconvenient facts.

To be fair that's how states are supposed to work in america. First and foremost we are a federation of states. That means the states act as the sovereign of their lands and the federal goverment acts as an interconnecting force that keeps them bound together and preventing one state from warring with another.

After the civil war state pride started to fade and what replaced it was a greater reliance on the federal system.

How to back away from this clutterfuck, it to give the states more power than the federal system. Give the people the power of moving to what state suits their needs more. As you can see in the Californian exodus. Removing most of the encompassing power of the federal goverment will allow states to act more autonomously and utilize their resources more effectively than when a centralized power tries to meddle in it.

          I absolutely agree!

The system as it was designed has been bastardized the states were supposed to basically rule themselves with a referee. The federal government's powers were very limited and specific.

The role of the executive branch is to make the quick decisions. Something that putting it up to a vote would limit the response time.

The rest is up the the legislative branch and the judicial branch serving as the referee making sure they dont break the constitution or amendments.

We need to cut back on 90% of new laws being put forward through the houses and senate. Reform the house/senate so there is term limits, as well as the staffers to said congressmen and senators. Also make the congress people actually read the laws before voting on them. So no more 1000 page mega bullshit acts.

Sounds good. Let's break it down further to the county or city level so the victims left behind aren't subjected to state tyranny.

City states would be too hard to control. They could he radically different from the host country. Remember America is still a country it just that the states get most of the domestic power. Cities are too dense to be trusted with autonomy. Meaning cities that need X resource would screw over other areas to get that resources. Best to make the cities beholden to states. Instead of turning cities into states

I predict that in just over three years the USA will be rebranded by an Executive Order, and the new name will be Trumpland™.

Rights for use of the name will be granted after paying a nominal fee of a few thousand bucks, but only to those organisations which have been approved by a board headed by Eric and Donnie. Everyone else can expect to receive a letter to cease and desist from Rudy and Sidney.

Well okay Booj. I’m not saying you’re Captain Obvious, but that’s a safe prediction.

Seriously, wouldn’t it be better to find a new name for the entire North American continent? It has always bothered me that that southern neighbor linked by Panama drags down our reputation for raw materials, agricultural abundance with more clean glacial water than anywhere.

Edit: (Yes we are short on rare earth metals.).

It was a terrible mistake to call both continents America. The best name for South America is now lost to history.

On a more realistic version, let's add 'of america' to every other country in North, South, and Central America.

Canada of America, Mexico of America, Peru of America, then the people of the US and the world would change the way they apply the term American.

Using the other countries as an example, the people of the United States of America, would be known as Statians or maybe Ustatians.

Statians, would work I think. It would take some time to catch on, but a lot of the "Americans" I've known, especially the military forces, drop the United, and of America, part and say they're from the "States" or they can't wait to be back in the "States". So I think it could work.

Sure, and while we're at it, let's just call Europe 'West Asia' and Africa 'South Europe' and get it over with.

Realistically I wasn't suggesting renaming anything.

        The areas are already named,
North, South, and Central America. Brazil is already Brazil of South America, they just felt no need to add where they were located to their formal name. Saying United States of America is like saying, France of Europe. Who does that? And why? USA is really not even a name, it's 'what' they are. But the founders failed to even come up with a specific name that was unique to them. Example, Russia, Mexico, France, could all have a union of states or united states but I'm sure they would use their country's name not their countinent of Europe, Asia, or Central America.

So the founders were either egotistical or ignorant.
You may be American but so are the people from Canada all the way down to the tip of South America.

Maybe your founders just had delusions of grandeur. Maybe they thought all the provinces of Canada and territories to the south would one day become states. Then the name would fit.

Don't kid yourself. If Constantinople could be renamed Istanbul after 1400 years, and Rhodesia could be renamed Zimbabwe, then this is possible, too. If Siam, Formosa, Ceylon, East Pakistan, Peking, Bombay, Calcutta, Almaty, Saigon, and Bangalore could all be renamed Thailand, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Beijing, Mumbai, Kolkata, Nursultan, Ho Chi Minh City, and Bengaluru, then this is definitely possible. The forefathers didn't know jack shit about geography. Most people period didn't until a man by the name of Immanuel Kant came along.

I didn't say you couldn't rename it, just that there was no need too.

I'm just saying that the term American used as a title for a person from the USA is not really wrong. It just applies to all countries from Canada to Chile. So if something needs changed, the so call USA Americans should be referred to as Statians, or maybe just resurrect the old name of Yanks. That would probably not be acceptable to the southern people though.
