Oh OK. But the other options are very specific games.
Might have been better to create either a poll with options that are all specific games (like Battlefield, Call of Duty, Mario, GTA etc.) or a poll with options that are broad gaming genres (FPS, RPGs, Sports games etc.).
Jus' sayin'.
I voted 'Other' - I loved some of the early survival horror games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Fatal Frame. Also games like Onimusha and Ninja Gaiden. Max Payne 1 & 2, Left 4 Dead, Halo 1, GTA 4, Wipeout 2097, Bioshock 1, F.E.A.R., Pokemon on Nintendo DS, Tomb Raider, Professor Layton...
I honestly can't pick a favourite series but remembering all the games I've played and loved has given me the sudden urge to start gaming again. I miss it!
GTA,Tomb Raider.
I would have loved to Manhunt become a series and evolve.
I'm pretty sure we can all just say The Sims is the best series of games ever.
I used to play on ps2 back in the day!
I owned The Sims 3 on ps3, but when I switched to pc I've never gone back!
It's so much better :)
I've never played Mass Effect, however, one game series that I believe would count is the Bioshock series.
Bioshock 1: I'm not normally into scary games but something about this one was different, it had a plot. There was reason for all this madness, and it was a good reason at that. The world of a fallen Atlantis was very interesting and the man behind it all was even more so interesting. There was a sort psychological aspect to the game. When you see the big daddies you have to wonder if those Leviathans were going to hurt you, but no instead it's up to you to decide that. Furthermore, the morality behind your choices, whether to help the little sisters or mutilate them further by taking their eve. The conflict that you felt when deciding was intense. Then there's the whole idea that you can sympathize with Andrew Ryan, "the bloody king of Rapture." This man was clearly ambitious, he had a dream and he achieved it. You can't help but at least admire that. Then there's the twist ending. The hero of rapture and who he really is. That's the thing about the game, the minor details tie into the overall story. If you look around you'll see posters of Atlas, the proletariat trying to save Rapture. But that turns out to be not as true as it would appear. Even more so the recordings left behind gave you a sense of the characters, how Tenebaum regrets her decisions, and even how a weirdo like Cohen regrets going to Rapture. Overall the world was well-developed, the game mechanics were great (magic in one hand, gun in the other), and the story was amazing.
Bioshock 2: This one, I'll admit, was not as good as the first but it still, in it's own way was a good game. Granted the aesthetic of Rapture was sort of lost, but the story wasn't bad. You got to see what the Ryan's rival was like, Sofia Lamb. How she stood up to Ryan and the extents to which she went to defy Ryan. The character that you play as is tragic and I love it. This game is similar to the first in that the game mechanics are the same, the setting is the same, but the story is different. The whole time you're character is searching for Sofia's daughter, your little sister. One aspect about this game that I like is that they explain what to do with the little sisters once they stop being so little and the result is scary. The recordings in this one aren't so bad either. There's still that gray morality tied into the game. But I will admit that this game, while it did feel like a sequel, was a bit repetitive. However, overall, this game wasn't bad and it did tie into the first in an interesting way. It added to the series nicely.
Bioshock Infinite: This in itself is a whole new game and could easily be titled something different. Although it has Bioshock slapped on the title. I will admit that this game didn't meet my expectations, and it was kind of a let down. But in it's own way it was a good game. Actually that's all I will say.
Overall, the Bioshock series is a great franchise. And I admire the people at Irrational games to develop something like this.
In my opinion the ending of bi is the best I've ever seen and the greatest narrative in gaming, like a lynch film, only time I've finished a game and thought about it weeks later.
Can't believe irrational games are shutting down, someone give them some money, would you kindly?
The ending for Infinite was interesting, and it did make you think. That was one of the good things about it. And what do you mean they're shutting down? Infinite made a shit ton of money, how could they be shutting down?
I know, when a studio creates a masterpiece that was successful critically and commercially yet they still have to shut down, something's wrong
Ken lavine is moving on to something else though
I just wikipedia'd it and yeah your right. It really sucks. I like Ken and I hope for the best. But man his company shouldn't shut down.
Idk you guy, i found them to be repetitive after the first one, like i got Bioshock Infinte free on PS+, but i been mad if i had paid for it. I found it to be too liner and the powers really were not useful except a few, unlike last bioshocks, and the "twist ending was predictable to me at least. it was decent for free, but really, I had gotten the same experience if i just watched someone i like on Youtube do a "Lets Play" of it
Mass effect.
Mass effect 1 is the best game i've ever played, it was the first rpg I had played so maybe that's why,
It's almost too immersive, I would sit down pop in mass effect and I was away, a fire could have happened and I wouldn't have known, the universe is so well realised, and the intricacies behind the relations of all the races is so in depth, the codex is filled with tons of information regarding places, races and events, and there is even a secondary category which catalogs things to a ridiculous detail, for example you can read how faster than light travel is possible due to the ftl core and all these technical issues that most games wouldn't bother with, sure, the combat wasn't that great but the universe was leaving and breathing in a way I've not seen since.
I feel towards mass effect 2 the way I do towards the godfather 2, I know that it's technically better, but I prefer the first, the action was better, the immersion was again top notch, the pacing was better, still one of my favorites but not as good as 1
Then mass effect 3 comes along, pulls its trousers down, and shit's all over the series, even before you get to the final 10 mins it's great but it's not the same, and day 1 dlc that's integral to the story, forced multiplayer, but the multiplayer doesn't matter because it really has no affect on the ending, nothing you did in the previous games does, despite them saying your choices mattered, you get 70 plus hours ( and that's just one walkthrough) of built then at the end you get a 10 min info dump explaining everything then giving you an abc choice of slight variations in an ending.
Massive plot holes ( we machines, are destroying you so you don't get destroyedby the machines you will iinevitably create)
So many plot holes and loose ends.
Ends inner geek rant
Sorry, I just re-finished mass effect 3
It lead you to believe that ( spoiler) if you played multiplayer it would increase the galactic readiness and therefore improve you're chances of defeating the reapers
It was all bollocks anyway though
Oh, I see. I've played the game. I did like it, but it did pale in comparison to the other games.
Ending was just. Ugh. Did you hear about there being a Mass Effect 4 (Don't play as Shepard)?
Honestly, the me3 ending turned me into a grumpy prick for weeks, I had another 2 Shepard I'd taken through the first 2 to see the different endings :/
Yeah, I think it should be a completely different experience, I don't think you should have your own ship etc I want it to have a different feel,
Maybe a Dragon age type race selection option, or play as an asari and the story could take place over thousands of Years.
The first contact war could be good
* sigh *
I even know the date, 2157, I'm such a mass effect fanboy
I don't know. When it comes to video games with different races I am a bit of a human supremacist. Lol.
I can't play games where I'm not human, no idea why, just can't. What would be good is if you get to choose your own race aswell as customizing the character.
Would be cool to play as a character in the Mass Effect universe that is somewhat of a criminal, if that makes sense, or a bounty hunter, or so on.
There is , its called Mass Effect: Andromeda, and it will be out in 2017.
My Favorite would have to be StarCraft, my second favorite being Mass Effect.
MAX PAYNE! GTA! RDR! ANYTHING BY ROCKSTAR!!!!
...and zelda :3
... and final fantasy and kingdom hearts, halo, left 4 dead, MARIO!!!!, spyro, crash...
THERE IS NO RULER!!
Pokemon... Kingdom Hearts... Animal Crossing... Little Big Planet...
Yeah, I still play this stuff, though, PKMN, LBP, KH are not that bad. But, AC is for kiddies, but who cares!
I still love Age of Mythology, but that doesn't really count as a series. The battlefield franchise is probably the most competent FPS out there.
