It's a blessing and a headache. Their milestones are the greatest joys: birth, first words, first steps, first day of school, first date, graduation. But the responsibilities can be headaches: sickness, injuries, discipline problems, teen rebelliosness. But all in all it's great.
It's great, very rewarding. I highly recommend it to a lot of people. The main downside is that you get very tired in the early years. That part sucks. You need coffee and mental strength to push through it. After about 18 months- 2 years they usually start sleeping quite well at night and the sleep deprived haze clears. After that it's mostly very positive and enriching (excluding the teen years, of course. Teens aren't great)
Its awesome in many ways. It can be inconvenient at times if you want to go to a bar or go do something you cant just leave your kids at home. But when you come home from work and you see your kids yell "DADDYYYSSS HOMMEEE!!!" And run to you its really cool. Its also really cool to see them grow and also to look like you. Its nice to see if they are playing with other kids and getting along. Its cool to see their progression and you get to try to mold them into the type of person you want them to be and raise them with certain values. Then one day they hopefully become really successful and thats what you get out of it. You kinda live through them.
Having kids is probably somewhat of a nightmare as you need to financially support them in some ways, I don't have kids but I have learnt that people who have kids they have to take care of them and get them an education at some points in their life. Though there are people out there who don't want to have kids, having kids is a personal choice no one is obligated to have one.
