This is a stupid question. You can't pick a major based off what seems better. College isn't highschool, it's TOUGH. If you don't like what you're doing you're not going to put enough effort into and you will fail.

Do you like math? Are you interested in math? If not you won't succeed.

Why not learn a trade? Look at how much a plumber (for example) makes vs the length of and cost of schooling. You're in HUGE demand, you never have trouble finding work, you can work alone or easily be a self employed business owner virtually right out of school. Just sayin'.

Engineering has alot of opportunities, I learned how to work with electronics since I was 13. I make all kinds of stuff that's not only fun, but I can sell. Hell, I get 100$ a week for the stuff I make.

This day and age everything is becoming more and more computer technology related, it you happen to have programming skills you can walk into a firm and name your hourly wage and they will take you.

I choose mathematics. You can do various things in many fields with that degree. That's what I'm going to do.

I think it's all about loving what you do and being good at it. If you are good at something and love what you do, you can do great things with it no matter what.

The most beneficial degrees for society are (in my opinion) the Sciences, IT, Engineering and Education, so more young people involved in these I suppose can't be a bad thing.

I agree with wigsplitz that there are trades in constant demand like plumbing, electricians etc. but the majority of these aren't taught at Universities as degrees, so don't factor into the question.
