Batman: Arkham Asylum! :D Or, the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection. But I really, really , really want you to buy Batman!

There are some many awesome and amazing things about this game. I won't tell you anything because you have not played it yet and I don't want to spoil the surprise.

Arkham Asylum, has everything that makes a videogame a masterpiece! The controls, the soundtrack, and the story line are all in perfect harmony. And it has extreme replay value!

Please buy it? And then buy Arkham City right after you beat Arkham Asylum. Please?! I promise you will not be disappointed. ^_^

Devil May Cry 4, is not that good and the replay value is low. In my opinion.
Deus Ex, I haven't beat that game yet. I'm still working on it :P It is kind of boring and it reminds me of Bioshock (just not as good) too much. I wish I didn't buy it on release day.
You should rent Bioshock 2 before you buy it because it is not as great as the first one at all. I found that out after I spent a $100 on it :\

I wouldn't even consider Darksiders or Brink if I were you. At least rent them first. Don't make the same mistake I made... I don't know much about the other games.

If you don't buy Batman. Buy Castlevania: Lords of Shadow or Dead Space.

Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na...Batman! :D

OP, do you mind if I guess who you are?

    • I am pretty interested in the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection, because I never got to play it the first time around on the ps2, and I remember their was lots of hype about them when they came out.

Thank you for your descriptions and recommendations too :)

$100! That's way too much for a videogame!

Darksiders might be alright, but Brink was recommended to me as a terrible game, so I definitely won't be getting it.

And you already know who I am, there is no need to guess. Thank you for asking though :P

I can mostly agree with that ^_^
I am not gaming as much as i used to during my teenage days, but now and then i still like playing a bit.

I, too, wasn't too fond of Devil May Cry, glad i just borrowed it from a friend.

As for Deus Ex: You should give it another try. I am old enough to have played the first, and never could do it without killing someone. So i decided to try it in Human Revolution. I'm just playing on and off, but up to now i managed to play completely without killing someone(just knocking people out), that makes the game a lot more enjoyable than just running and gunning.

Ico and and Shadow collection i also liked.

Heavy Rain was interesting, but ultimately, i never got to do another playthrough, i played it together with my partner, we watched each other and tried to play the characters differently, but ultimately, too little changed depending on our actions.

Batman, i wanted to try for a while. your post kind of made me remember that :)

Off of OP's list I would like to play Dark Souls, Demon Souls, Mortal Kombat, L.A. Noire, and Uncharted 3.

I can't wait to play Heavy Rain, and I hope it is as good as everyone says it is. I don't like replaying a game that's not worth the time or the effort, though.

Hahaha! XD I'm just thinking about the way I play Deus Ex Human Revolution. :D I am killing them without guns. But sometimes it gets so hard I have to bust a cap. So I'll have to replay it twice, once without killing and the second without guns. I can't wait to play the first one. ^_^

You'll be so pleased with Batman: Arkham Asylum! I encourage you to play it ASAP!

If I haven't told you I love Heavy Rain in a PM I'll do that now... It's just awesome and a real unique game!

It has been my favorite game for about 2 years I think...

But for now I'm playing Cod: MW3 and BF3^^ Oh and I downloaded an emulator for my mobile phone again to play Pokémon <3

ya, with heavy rain, as said, it's fun, but, in case that didn't come across proper, we didn't play ONE playthrough together, we each did our own and just watched the other...and played vastly differently.

Still, the outcome was mostly the same. One exacmple below(one scene, not like, "outcome")

          ------
          SPOILER WARNING(Minor one, but still)
There is one scene where you have to hurt yourself. I panicked and did so right away, then was very slow and broken in the next scene. My partner looked around better and found stuff like antiseptica, a hot iron to cauterize the wound, alcohol to drink before...but still she was exactly the same as me in the following scene, the only difference was an achievement and it was never mentioned again or had any different long-term effects.
          SPOILER END
          ------

As for the list, i'd probably like L.A.Noire, Portal 2 and maybe Red Dead Redemption. Aside from the obvious Batman stuff ;)

Oh no, you came across perfectly clear. That's why I said...

"I don't like replaying a game that's not worth the time or the effort, though." Because not much does change :)

But thank you for clearing it up. ^_^

And of course I had to read the spoiler. Thanks for the warning too.

I left out Red Dead Redemption. I hear the game is awesome so I think I'll try it soon.

Uncharted 3 is almost as good as Uncharted 2 (which I think is one of the best games of all time, maybe my second favorite after Mario 64)

Infamous is pretty good. I got my version free with Plus, not sure if I would have paid for it, but I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

Heavy Rain is a flawed masterpiece. Unlike any other game I've played. It's like playing different characters in a thriller. The soundtrack is totally haunting.

LA Noire and Red Dead are similar in many ways but set in completely different genres. Both genres are fairly unusual for gaming so they provide unique experiences.

Portal 2 is another great unique gaming experience. The original is free to play via Steam on PC or Mac as Corleone mentioned, and it really is worth the time playing, it's fairly short, but it does introduce you to the gameplay and the characters.

Ultimately I voted Heavy Rain though.

It looked like a departure from the Indiana Jones style of Uncharted to more of a Left 4 Dead type of game. I'm hoping more information comes out at E3, but I'll most likely get it when it comes out.

Portal 2 is awesome, but I recommend you play the first one. Makes the magnificent story even better.

You can download the original portal on steam for free, if you want to.

    • That makes me wish I had a decent computer. I would really enjoy playing through the first portal I think. I thought about posting "The Orange Box" in my options, but the price was around $40 if I remember correctly, and I am probably looking to spend a little less than that.

I bought SMT persona for PSP, but it's still coming in the mail, they say SMT nocturne is the best, with options to destroy or recreate the ruined world which is for ps2 (Kinda older) I know what you mean about no time for RPG's :P Good luck in your hunt

  • Batman: Arkham Aylum/city (both are amazing).
    Uncharted 3 is good.
L.A Noire - Be careful. I have that game, and it's amazing when I'm in the mood for it, but I'm rarely in the modd for it.
Red Dead Redemption - Amazing, deffintely buy.
    Duex Ex - Good game
All the Devil May Crys are great, even the second one had amazing gameplay, regardless of the bad story of it.

One game I warn you against; Brink. The game is terrible. I thought it would be good, bought it, played it, and felt scammed. The game was showed to be amazing, but was terrible. I returned it the day I bought it.

The rest I don't know about.

You are missing one critically acclaimed yet largely ignored game that came out last year. "Rayman Origins" is a fantastic game. I play games from many genres and can honestly say it is one of the most creative, beautiful, and fun games to come out in the last decade.

I am on the older end of the gaming spectrum though, so it might be that I like platformers more than most younger gamers.

    • I do enjoy some platformers, but my main concern is that honestly, it probably wouldn't be violent enough for me to get much enjoyment from it. I am sure it is a great game though, and thank you for recommending it.

I don't need violence to enjoy a game, but if that's your thing it probably isn't the game for you.

Thank you, OP. When I joined IIN, I'd been reading the site for a fair while. When I did join, I got so drunk one night that not only did I forget my password, I actually forgot my username. I used to look at posts from two years ago, seeing if I could spot myself. It's always annoyed me that I couldn't remember.

Reading through your list of games, my old username is one of them and I suddenly remembered who I used to be before I was dappled. I feel like one of the mysteries of my life has been solved. I'm really grateful.
