    Equinophobia - fear of horses

Kneebackophobia - fear of the two lines on the back of peoples' knees.
Not to be confused with Nickelbackophobia (the fear of how you remind me of what I really am)

Phobophobia is the fear of having a fear

    In no particular order...

The phobia that effects my life most is my fear of driving. I hate that more than anything.

I'm very scared of heights. I saw ladder 49 and almost peed while crying and hyperventilating in a classy non-dramatic fashion.

I'm scared of cockroaches, but I love most insects...entomology fascinates me, especially social insects, and Arachnids.

    I'm scared of crocodiles.

I'm scared of sharks, but I fucking love them; I think they're beautiful.

I'm scared of love, but I'm working through that one.

    I'm scared of drugs.

    I'm scared of church.

I'm procrastinating from getting my license (because I have to now :/:( ) because I'm scared of being the driver. I fall asleep in car rides longer than 30mins :/ this does not bode well...

You can't blame the subject of your phobia for your fear.

Those bugs don't deserve to die just because you have an irrational fear of them :)

If we didn't have bugs, our whole ecosystem would collapse and I doubt we'd last that long.

Yeah, but having an irrational reaction to an irrational fear makes sense.

            I guess.

I'd say going mental and stomping a bug into oblivion is a rational reaction to an irrational fear.

But trying to justify an irrational fear by saying 'bugs are nasty creatures that don't deserve to live' seems to me like denial.

Fear of insects is actually quite interesting. The biological world would come to a hault without insects. For one, pollination would cease to exist.

I read a study about why humans are so inclined to fear insects; we are often attracted to animals that we can anthropomorphize...and we are incapable of attributing human characteristics to something so dissimilar...do you ever wonder why pop cult representations of aliens so closely resemble insects? Humans are biologically programmed to fear the non-mammalian characteristics, but for good reason, as there are many venomous/poisonous insects.

I'm ranting, but I find it interesting. You should read "sex on six legs"...fucking fantastic book.

Umm, fear of inanimate objects coming to life? That might have been a thread I've read today. Yeah, Doctor Who- wheeping angels freak me the f*ck out. I also can't watch Five nights at Freddy's 1 or 2 while sitting still, nor can I listen to the Top 10 facts about it. I also once had a dream that I was chased by a man with a Virus Cry mask (google-able), and he could only move when I wasn't watching and he could only kill me when I looked at him and he was close enough to kill me with one strike.

Also the fear of the dark, even more of closing my eyes in the dark. EVEN MORE SO of opening my eyes back again, if I do gather enough courage to close them in the first place. The absolute worst is coming into a dark room with closed eyes and even after the light has been turned on, opening my eyes.

    Also, funny story:
I had no idea I had a fear of heights until I was in an adrenaline park with school and 9 meters above the ground, hanging on a bouncy rope.

Now if you don't mind, I have some puppy pictures to Google. *sucks thumbs*

It isn't that major a fear, but what is the fear of hurting your eyes called? I don't mean losing my sight. I'm not scared of losing my sight. I am very much attached to my sight, but I am not scared of losing it. I mean, I'm getting in the car and the corner of the car door two whole feet from my face freaks me out, though I don't show it, I imagine the whole scenario where I trip and the corner pokes me in the eye. If I notice a corner or other eyeball threatening object anywhere near my head and my eyes are anywhere in my thoughts, I have a mental freak out and start inching away very casually.

Google Dictionary is missing some of these. What's emitophobia? What's trypophobia?

    Comment Hidden ( show )

    • Koda

Trypophobia was fairly recently coined. It's the fear of clusters themselves, or more specifically, clusters of small holes in any substance. I have it quite severely, but there was never any name for it until recently. It's all "thanks" to the internet. You usually have it from early childhood. I read that it's connected to an archetypical fear of flesh-eating diseases and parasites that made one's skin holey. None of these diseases are a problem anymore, but some of us are left with this terrible phobia. Whenever I see or think too long about clusters of holes I feel like I'm going into anaphylactic shock almost. I get hives, I can't breathe, and I feel like I'm going to pass out.

There are tons of images on the internet specifically made by mean trolls to trigger trypophobic reactions. Usually they involve photoshopping images of empty seed pods onto human skin. Yuck! *is itchy*

I'm scared of those damn thick furry long caterpillars it brings me back to a childhood memory. When I was younger It rained very badly that night. The whole entire damn sidewalk was covered in caterpillar's I had to leap across I was so scared. Ugh my brother thought it was funny to put a caterpillar in my hand I've had like a mental breakdown crying my eyes out and having like a panic attack. Now I get made fun of because of my fear of caterpillars. :(

    Heh, my fears, huh?
My friend just recently asked a similar question.

Well, I have slight arachnophobia. It depends, though. If it's a small house spider, I'm fine. If it's a daddy long leg, NOPE.

Also a bit of claustrophobia... I locked myself in my closet once to see how long I can "survive" in there... I survived, like, five minutes. I kinda got freaked out.

There's more. Like other normal fears. My mom says I can't seperate fantasy from reality. Hint, hint.

All tarantulas in the wild are venomous. But you're highly unlikely to die from a bite. A bite is more akin to being stung by a wasp.

Also, don't believe that rubbish about Daddy Longlegs being poisonous.
