    I remember quite enjoying a 2012 one called the impossible, based on a true story about the 2004 tsunami in Thailand

      Wow! had no idea that movie got made. Vividly remember watching the news (live broadcast) on the 2004 tsunami in Thailand.

    In secondary school every end of term science lesson was spent watching The Day After Tomorrow, it became a joke then it became exhausting. I was with some school friends years later and saw it on TV when channel surfing, after all that time we still groaned in unison.

      Volcano was released the same year as Dante's Peak.The term "twin movies" is used when two similar movies are released in the same year.
