Hey, by the way, I was in the car today and turned onto the 'Christian' religious radio station. (I was just scanning at the time, but what they were saying bewildered me a tad! So I stopped and listened)
Anyway, they said: 'Next meeting at the such and such church (forgotten silly church name) at 7pm Tuesday. Topic will be Evolution, is it true? How old is the Earth really? And are rocks/fossils really that old?'
Say what? (I thought to myself) They are holding a meeting on SCIENCE and the NON qualified pastor is going to talk about (likely) the world is really 6,000 years old???
Wouldn't you want to get answers (already available online and everywhere) from a scientist on these science matters? Why on Earth would you ask a 'pastor'?? I don't know (!) but I think they may be a bit bias and WRONG.Anyway they went on (I know it was ludicrous)
And some religious woman comes on (insert: no idea why females would ever want to go into a 'man's' religion?) And she starts talking about how not to let others 'condemn' you, as condemnation is not in the Bible (?) Plus its all about 'conviction' (or some rubbish?)
Seriously, IT WAS FUNNY. I seriously wanted to call up and say, I condemn all Christians to hell.Religious people are absolutely utterly foolish. I do worry about the poor young children dragged to these gatherings though.
You know 'evolution' is NOT my opinion, it is FACT. We don't actually need to ask pastor's about if its right or wrong anymore (actually ever) Even the Pope agrees. Evolution is FACT.
Women should NOT be in the church (nor men, but they just like controlling I suppose)
Children should be made a law on keeping them out of church.
And mixing and matching words of the fiction Bible, is just dumb.I tune into religious radio stations to laugh, there is NO learning involved.

You are a Imbecile. People go to school and collage in a attempt to be taught things. Not everyone looks for it on the computer and some feel they learn more taught by a mentor, teacher, tutor. So the fact you say it is stupid to go learn something you could have learned on the internet is like asking why people go to collage. From this I can assume you dropped out of high school and never went to collage. So you feel it is ok to call everyone who has dumb. Not to mention that most jobs require a degree. So you also saying getting a degree is unintelligent even if it gets you better work opportunities. You also might not know this but Albert Einstien believed in god so you really are saying are smarter?

You know nothing about religion. So you are telling me You think Albert Einstein is a moron? Ok I doubt if he was alive you would have the guts to tell him yourself. Also just because you believe in god does not mean you did not go to school or get a education. What country are you from? Where I come from everyone has to go to school. I guess you are not lucky enough to be able to go to school. In my country you have to go by law. I guess in yours you must have came from a poor family and could not pay for a education. I am so sorry for you.

I wrote Catholic, Protestant, Lutheran, and Quaker and I believe those are all Christian religions. Close enough. Yeah but true. It is weird that I've lived in the United States my whole life and I wrote Hindu but not Christian. I guess its because the only subreligion of Hindu I know is Vaisnava, which I wrote.

Well thanks, that is interesting BUT I would agree with you and not your professor.
"Superhuman" refers to gods and supernatural entities. An atheist doesn't hold that belief in the "superhuman" and agnostic doesn't believe or disbelieve. So what's with your prof?
You can stretch the meaning of "religion" I suppose to incorporate the idea of zealous adherence to beliefs and ritualistic practices - English is like that and is contextual.
But in a scholarly paper in which it is obviously the "superhuman" aspect that is the distinguishing and relevant (not to mention most commonplace) meaning of the word that is in play, I think your prof was just being picky and a bit ridiculous.
I hope you weren't docked marks, and rest my case sir! (HA)
