I would say 40's.
Assuming one is going to die of old age, the average life expectancy is 74 for men and 78 for women.
Middle age is, generally speaking, between 40-60. I was gonna check both the 45 box and the 55 box, but they'd only let you check one. After around 60, you're more often going to start being considered old, before about 40, some people will still tell you that you're still pretty young. I still got told that at age 37, 38, but now at 43, it's been awhile since anyone's told me that.
I'd say anywhere between 45 and 50...
It's when you are too young for the cane, slippers and prune juice, but too old to be a waiter, or play demanding sports and a night of heavy drinking is something you won't forget in a hurry.
Somewhere between young and old.
Although it could entirely depend on when you die. Like if you get run over by a bus at the age of 24 then 12 was middle age for you which would suck because you were too young to enjoy a midlife crisis and buy a hot car and fuck your bosses wife.
Dying before your time doesn't count. Middle aged starts at around halfway to your natural life expectancy, like around the age where you would actually be said that you'd die of old age, which is around 80 or older. When people die before 80, it's usually from "something", such as a heart attack, stroke, cancer, etc., but it's not usually "just of old age" or natural causes. Like I said, middle age starts at around the halfway mark to your natural life expectancy. I think middle aged is roughly between 40 and 60. You rarely anymore call someone 50-something old age.
Middle aged to me implies more than just literally "half of your life expectancy" which is why I think it's your 50's and 60's.
I feel like middle age is a time between being youthful and active and being so old you need assisted living or a nursing home. Someone who's in their 40's (and certainly 30's) can still hang with younger adults assuming their in halfway decent shape. Heck, there are even NFL and NHL players playing in their 40's!!
If you're in you're 50's or 60's, on average you certainly don't need to live in a nursing home. However, that's when you will most likely feel the need to slow down a little. Brush up on your tennis and golf game maybe, rather than heavy weight training or running etc.
Of course there are always exceptions to the rule on at every age but still... middle age is an average
