What's the weirdest lie someone has told you?

My friends and I had a friend who said he survived a car crash and his only brother didn't make it out after he tried to save him. He said his brother's leg was ripped open and had a broken arm that bled all over him.

A month after telling that fable his only brother came to visit and he had no choice but to come clean about it. His brother really wasn't happy about being part of a lie. We found out later he lied about his occupation, race, and religion and stopped talking to him after that.

You peeps got any lies you were told?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

On this politics discord yesterdsy this gay liberal came in the room and I could tell he was lying about everything. He said he was gay, worked in the government, he has 8 adopted kids (which he said was easy to do in America), and one of his sons wears a dress to school somedays and thats ok, then he said one of his kids is on their death bed. Then we started talking about IQ he said he did an IQ test. Someone asked him his results and he asked them to read off the ratios of IQ (like 90 normal, 110 high, 120 gifted, 140 genius) then at the end he said "yeah yeah I am in the genius catagory"😂

I don’t think lies as kids count because all kids come up with wild stories like when we were about 12 a friend told me that his mother found a dead man in their attic. But when I was in my 20’s a friend told me that he was from Saudi Arabia and was very firm about it so I went to the library and learned some Arabic words and tried them out on him and some he understood and others he didn’t.

I'm gullible. Even when someone's being sarcastic i just swallow their sh*t.
Then when it's been cleared i just act dumb

    That's messed up.

There was a kid I rode the bus with in school who was always making up whoppers, and he told a couple of similarly stupid stories, such as:

    1. He and his friend were kidnapped and held hostage, and the kidnapper gave him the option of choosing who would be set free and who would be shot, so he chose for himself to be let free and his friend to be shot.

    2. The jacket he was wearing was worn by a friend of his who died in a fiery accident, in which he was wearing said jacket. How was it not burned to his skin, let alone burned at all?

I don't get why people make up stories about tragedies happening to loved ones and people they care about like that. I guess to try to be "edgy" or like they've "seen shit"? I have no clue. The kid I mentioned always acted like he really wished he were living on the set of an action thriller movie, and like a wannabe "badass".

Also had a classmate in high school tell me he was in a gang as a 9-year-old and robbed a bank. 🤣

Lol how did he think these stories were believable? If someone is going to lie, I would think they would make it believable.

I have no clue, lol. He wasn't the brightest, so he probably somehow did think they were believable! 🤣

Lol well that makes more sense.

No wonder he thought these were believable. I can't get passed the one where he said he's wearing a jacket worn by one of his friends that died in a fire lol.

Yeah, that one was completely stupid! 🤣 Not sure what he was thinking, or if he even was thinking at all!

The dude's brain sounds like it's small, so probably not lol. Can't really think if there's nothing to think with!

A kid I knew in middle school told me that he shot himself in the foot with a 9mm because his friend supposedly dared him to and offered him 50 dollars.

That my father who was a doctor apparently wrote in latin...

If he was from the 13th century maybe but no. This person was just incredibly wrong/stupid.

The weirdest lie I can recall wasn't told to me, but told about me.

Back in my mid-twenties, a guy at work - who I really only knew by his face and surname - casually asked me one day how it was going with Susan (I can't recall the woman's actual name). I was totally confused about who he was talking about, since I knew nobody of that name. This confused him, since the woman was his sister-in-law, and she'd been telling people that we were dating and I was a great guy.

A serious WTF moment for both of us.

As far as I could make out, I'd seen the woman once or maybe twice in a local pub. We'd never been introduced, and I have no idea how she learned my name. In fact, the only reason I'd gone into the pub was because I was doing a six month stint as USN Shore Patrol, and we were supposed to show our faces occasionally in the places where sailors might make a nuisance of themselves.

Did you feel obligated to keep the lie going for her?

      "Whos susan?"

      "You know... my sister..."

"OHHHHHH SU-san... yea yea its cool..."

Nah. It's a very long time ago now, but as best as I can recall, I told him I didn't know the woman and there must have been some crossed lines somewhere. I didn't know her, so I'm sure I didn't feel the need to lie.

Gotta admit, though, that I did sorta keep an eye out for some woman giving me the eye when I was patrolling after that. Probably just as well nothing came of it, since the evidence was that she was a bit of a nutter.

When I was 16 a friend told me that his parents were dead and that his little sister and himself lived with his poor uncle who was abusive.

I married his brother some years later and his parents are still alive and very well off.

I really dont understand why he lied. I wasn't questioning him, just happened that I was his desk partner at college.

Ive heard so many girls lie about how their ex bf was abusive. One time a chic was beating the hell out of me and I bear hugged her so she would stop hitting me and she told everyone I "grabbed her and slammed her on the ground" her dad even came after me over it
