What's wrong with having grey hair??

My own mom, of all people, recently made fun of me for having some grey hair! She literally pointed at me, laughed and said 'hahaha you've got grey hair!'. I was stunned! It's MY hair and frankly, I'm not concerned with it becoming grey. And why point and laugh at me? Seriously, whose mom points and laughs at them?? I guess that shouldn't be too surprising, she is a bully.

She goes to the salon religiously to get a haircut and coloring every 6 weeks on the dot and is ALWAYS complaining about 'having' to go. She spends a fortune on it, not to mention all the time wasted sitting there in the salon. It takes almost 2 hours! So, um, somehow that's better?? I don't think so, I like that I'm OK with myself and don't spend a fortune and a ton of time on something so stupid. She's almost 60, I mean, really, who does she think she's fooling anyway?

Sorry but I'm perfectly fine with greying hair and I'd hate to feel like she does, 'having' to color my hair.

is it normal to be fine with grey hair??

Nothing. And actually, for a while people were going out to dye their hair gray just for fun. Seriously, it was 'in' not too long ago. I think I remember them showing it on the news last year sometime.

The people that are making fun of you are just being immature. One day you should go out and buy a gray wig, put it on, and tell them you decided to dye your hair all gray, because you thought it was pretty awesome. Watch their mouths drop. They probably won't know what to say then. :p

I think grey hair can look really nice. It's normal to be fine with it. But just because you don't care about it, that doesn't mean that anyone else caring about it is being stupid. No need to be harsh about how your mother spends her money and time.

    • If she wants to do it that's her choice, I agree, however it's more about the complaining about it and how she says she 'has' to color her hair that bothers me. I'd hate to spend all that time and money on this just because I felt I had to or else people would see my grey hair!

  • My brother (24) has got bits of grey in his hair due to his anxiety and stress due to what has happened in our lives.

Going to be honest, sometimes grey/white hair suits males. Not sure about females because I have never seen a youngish thirty year old female or so with grey hair. But, if you look at the new season of Dexter, the main antagonist Isaac has grey and white hair, and my God, he looks amazing.

If you dislike it, you could always dye it.

Sounds like you should check again and see how toxic your relationship with your mom is.

There's nothing wrong with grey hair. I think that people who hate grey hair are people that are afraid to age. It's a part of life.

My family has a gene for premature grey/white hair. Personally I could care less about mine turning (in my mid-20's, it already is). One of the first things people say when they see my mom is that her hair is gorgeous (mostly white, some of her original dark brown). However, both her sisters (who would have the same hair naturally) choose to dye theirs. It's all about what you are comfortable with. Some people freak out about it, some people rock it. Some would dye their hair regardless.

I`m your mother`s age, & I dye my hair every month or so, because I`m scared that I`ll be tageted by muggers thinking that I`m a pensioner going to collect her pension.Old people are also considered useless by society, so I want to look young for as long as possible.

I happen to color the grey, which is not a lot, because I prefer the color brown over the color grey.
I have had brown hair my whole life and that's the way I intend to keep it. Your mother has the absolute right to color her own hair if she so chooses regardless of the reason. It sounds like you were triggered by your mother' s comment about the grey in your hair. I see that as the real issue. Why did that trigger you? I doubt it has anything to do with hair color unless you are not as comfortable with the grey in your hair as you claim to be.

grey hair is not the sign of wisdom it is the sign of lack of wisdom

people that are wise know about such herbs

wise people know there are herbs that restore hair color. i have my natural color platinum blonde at 24, for most my life it wasnt certain herbs/formulas restore natural hair color

most my life my hair was dark when i started using these herbs

it only took a few weeks to bring back my natural color, for some it takes months and it dident bleach my hair or anything actually its a topical spray with hers that are absorbed into the skin that you put on your hair

it restores natural color via giving your hair nutrients it needs to be healthy seeing that the spray is dark in

color yet it doesn't stain blond hair

it is powerful at restoring melanin production

chaga is really rich in melanin

im going to start useing chaga on my hair and skin and eating it again, i ran out

and its not normal to get used to loosing you natural color, who wants to get used to dieing?

why having to bother coloring you hair, if all you have to spray are herbs on there, also using heat such as curling iron, blow dryer, really really hot water, very hot oil treatments

i dont use any heat on my hair and i used to have long hair, heat kills your hair

if hair is dead? then how can my hair growth that i have turn back to blond? also the hair shaman at moroccomethod.com

      says hair is not dead

also making sure you have enough good iodine helps also

I don't think that i am getting sick. I also don't think all grey hair is bad, but i am also not a doctor. Lol

no you just lack good wholesome plant nutrition, lack of nutrients and such, but in other deffition lack of nutrition causes disease aka "DTO - deterioration to old", your body is breaking down due to lack of nutrients and possible dna damage from hash chemical products on your head chemical : shampoos gel's ect...

lack of nutrents makes you age much faster

and damage to the dna in your hair / skin that causes normal hair color

chemicals in tap water and body / skin care products as well as in make-ups for women damage dna and cause hormonal imbalance lack of strong hormonal balance causes hair to grey much sooner than it normally would

There's nothing wrong with having gray hair. I'm 20 and because of things passed down on my dads side I already have a lot of silver twisted through our my red hair. By the time I'm 40 ill have completely white hair just like my dad and its awesome. Love who you are and tell your mom your so awesome because you don't need to dye your hair. It naturally does it for you.

Some people look very good with grey hair. My mom for instance. Its mostly grey with a few streaks of light grey and I think it looks lovely. Besides, when she's tried to dye it in the past it looked awful. I bleach my hair only because I used to be naturally blonde but with age and issues its gotten so dark and it does not look good on me at all. When I go grey I think I'll stop bleaching but I have not seen that first grey hair yet and I hope I don't for a long time.

Eh, some women do not like conceding to their youth.
Me, I would probably dye my hair if it turned grey, mainly because it would make me feel better about dying my hair. I like my current hair color and don't want to ruin it (again) but if it's grey, I can make it all the cool colors I want ^^

Your Mom sounds like a doofus though, grey often looks good on men and brings an air of confidence and seniority about them. I have read somewhere that men who have gray hair but have the majority of their hair natural exhibit a great image in the Business world as still youthful BUT possessing seniority. Good show.

Just ignore it, moms can be judgmental without knowing it. Ask her when she started going gray. And if you don't care, then just don't react. At least you're comfortable with being yourself. She probably doesn't know how to be comfortable with it and feels the need to give in to societal pressures. It's likely her mom treated her the same way and she doesn't know any different.

I have four grey hair I have been told but they are in the middle. I don't mind and I don't let anyone pluck them out. Your mum was just being funny, I don't think that she has laughed to make you feel bad.

I don't get what the big deal of having gray hair is either. It's completely normal, as for some people who think just because you have a gray hair means you're old - WRONG. Don't pay attention to your mother.
