What should be the punishment for domestic violence in your family?

Just wondering, I live by myself so I don’t have any roommates, friends or family living with me? But what happens in your home if say a Member of your family were to just flip and get real angry and start violently hitting another member of your family? What do you think the punishment should be for that? I’d say at least go to court and maybe serve jail time and pay fines perhaps???

    Huge difference between let’s say siblings hitting each other and a grandson hitting grandma. Can’t even begin to answer this question because there’s so many variables.
