corn starch as if mixed with water about 2 tablespoons to a small amount of water, then stir and add while stirring into boiling liquid there will be no lumps like with flour
Yep, make a runny mixture in cold water and add slowly to the hot broth & stir like crazy to prevent floury lumps. A dessertspoon of cornflour should do it, if not repeat til it's however you want it.
If you're going to use it to make vegie soup, broccoli stems contain a starch which thickens soup.
Maybe next time use less water?
I'd never heard that about broccoli. It's interesting how that totally disgusting vegetable actually has a practical use.
PS: You could also add rice and don't forget to stir briskly after adding to hot broth or it will sink to the bottom and make a very sticky mess
