Hello everyone. Currently I am unemployed. What to do I am confused.
Problem: You have no job.
Solution: Get a job.
Steps:
1. Look for a job(the internet is very helpful with this step)
2. Make a resume(the internet is very helpful with this step)
3. Apply for jobs you see that you believe you don't suck at
4. Go to any interviews you get
5. Profit
Think about what sort of jobs you would like to do and make sure you have the necessary skills or qualifications. Then use the internet to start searching and applying. Also make sure you have a good CV, there are plenty of tips on the internet showing what to include and how to set it out.
80% of all jobs available are never advertised or posted on the internet. You will have a lot better chance of getting those jobs if you learn more about yourself and the various things you can do - and how to get into the insiders list at companies - so they call you before they ever post a job.
A good starting book on the 1st part is "What Color Is Your Parachute - 2021"
This is revised every year as how to find jobs and resume styles change every year. You don't want one that's 5 or more years old. I found the flower diagram exercise extremely worthwhile as it clearly identified what kind of jobs and where they were that I did best at.
The 2nd part is that once you know what types of skills, job match, location match, etc. that you start to learn about the companies in those areas (especially about what charities and other causes they support). Feel free to approach someone in the company and discuss with them the company history and outlook. I've usually managed to end up talking to a upper level supervisor or manager. let them know how much you respect the company and how it supports the area... Then just mention that you'd be interested if they ever have an opening...
Then stay in touch occasionally.
That's how you get the 80% of jobs that are filled without being listed on a job site somewhere.
I wish you well with this,
