What us state has the cheapest cost of living?

I live in Minnesota right now, but I’m thinking of maybe moving somewhere where rent is cheaper??? Would you happen to know which state in America charges the least for renting apartments??? I imagine it’s maybe a south state maybe? Like Oklahoma? Texas? Lousiana? Or Mississippi maybe?? What do you think about it? Where could you live and pay cheap rent in The United States!!!

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

East tennessee in the mountains is really good. Found 10 acres and a 3 bedroom house for $90,000 out there. Thats like $600 a month if you have good credit.

I dont live in east TN im in middle TN. ThatGuyYouNeverWannaMeet could probably tell you more about it. All I know is housing is dirt cheap its very rural and the people are nice. Drugs like pain pills and meth are probably rampant in most areas out that way but its so spread out you wont even come in contact with them aside from seeing one at walmart every now and then. You'll see big trucks everywhere, confederate flags everywhere. Everyone smokes cigarettes.
People are usually friendly in those areas. Its a slower pace. You dont have to worry about looking special in new clothes and a super nice car. No one cares about that stuff really. Theres not a keeping up with the joneses type thing out there. The PC culture stuff does not exist out there. You wont see transgenders or gay pride shirts. Obviously people really love guns out there also.

The lowest cost of living has to be compared to available services and opportunities.

I'd much rather look for a modest cost of living place to live that has good opportunities and good services available.

Don't get fooled by the states with no income tax. Some of those can be expensive places to live. The question is how does the state raise its money. If its not taxing income - its taxing something else. You need to understand what else and how that affects you.

Oh forgot to mention Clarksville TN it's a really nice city and you can find houses very cheap. Right off the kentucky tennessee border by a military base. Idk how houses are so cheap there but its a nice area.
