What video game have you got that completely blew your expectations out of the water? I'll list a few which I found more entertaining than I expected in the poll.

The Last of Us.
That game was an experience. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it extrapolated a lot of emotions from me and that was just from the story. The game play was amazing and the graphics were the best I've ever seen. I went into the game expecting it to be good, but it blew my expectations away. Think about that for a second, I went into it with high expectations and it blew me away. It was that good. That game is honestly the best PS3 game I've ever played and it sucks that it's exclusively for that system. I swear though that game, and I rarely say this about anything, was something that I believe everyone should experience.

The Mass Effect series as a whole, and GTA 5. mass effect is freaken epic! the graphics, the story building, and the way choices you make effect the outcome, even in the next game!
and GTA5, the realism is incredible! not to mention all the things you can do in it and how big los Santos is! its immense! makes me think maybe we aren't that far off from video games that look like a live-action movie.
Bioshock, twilight princess, ocarina of time, dishonored, dark souls, assassins creed 2 and 4, shadow of the colossus, portal 1 and 2, halo 1,2,3, and odst, just cause 2, far cry 3.
Bioshock Infinite, a relatively old game now. I went into it not knowing much about it but it blew me away. But if you play it you have to play it to the end.
Most recent one would be: Super Mario 3D World. All-time would be: the 2nd Paper Mario game.
I agree with Anime and King there. Bioshock Infinite was a mind fuck of mind fuckery. And TLoU got you so emotionally invested deeper then any other game ive played. Ima have to add Shadow of Colossus to the list of epicness aswell. The campaign for MW2 was memorable too and im a battlefield guy.
mass effect 1, bioshock infinite, mass efffect 1 blew me away and i believe bioshock infinite to be the prime example of videogames as an artform, gta5 to but for different reasons, i think the fact i finished it 15 mins ago might be something to do with it, ive been stalling finishing it
