I grew up in the early 2000s and it was awesome. No one really got offended and if they did no one else cared. There wasnt any social media aside from MySpace and no one used it that much. We use to have a meet up point in an abandoned lot where if u didnt have anything to do you could go there and almost always ppl from the highschool would be there looking to get into shit. Use to have to call different home phones trying to track down a friend. Those were the days

I think I'm a few years older than you but I also grew up having to call house phones to find friends.
I remember in school on a Friday afternoon you would make plans with friends- we'll meet at 10am at the bus stop. See you tomorrow!
If you got to the bus stop at 10am and they weren't there... you just had to go home lol. Or find a payphone and call their mum to ask if they had left yet. Your have no idea why they didn't show up until you next heard from them.

I’d like to have been a young adult in the early 2000s when society was pretty as much modern as it is now but hadn’t yet become an internet/political correctness hellhole

The 70’s for me were the best. Your money went farther. There was no AIDS. Vietnam was finally over. The only bad things I remember were the oil shortage and the Iran hostage crisis.
