when i was left homeless and slept on the beach for 9 month at 12. i then got put into the foster system and went thru a few different fams from different places, missed tons of school but i have gotten to experience things people go their entire lives without experience.. so i am grateful that, i may not be book smart, but that i now have the ability to see things from a perspective most never see, which, to me, provides insight. not only was on an adventure then, but my adventure continues everyday..i know my destination, i just dont know what paths i will take to get there. hope i answered the question.. one thing school did teach me, was to skim and scan.

On 7/7/70 I set out to sail around the world on a 49' sail boat. I'd done plenty of sailing, but this was the real deal; crossing an ocean on a little wooden boat. It was the start of an adventure I am still living today, and I wouldn't trade a minute of it for all the money in the world.

skydiving. That experience meant the world to me

my entire childhood I idiotically prayed perhaps everyday to be granted the ability to fly. All the way until age ~13 when not only did I get less religious but also realized via laws of physics that could never happen. I still had dreams where I could fly, and I savored them as much as I could.

but then I finally skydived. It was perfection; the clouds, cold atmosphere, blue sky. Sigh. And I have to say it's a good thing they don't let you jump all by yourself the first few times cause I would've been dead. (which frankly is probably not a bad way to go lol) I was so mesmerized and lost in the moment that I didn't even think of deploying the parachute. So thanks Mr. Instructor-strapped-to-my-butt.

But skydiving is too quick to really savor anything. My next "adventure goal" is to hang glide. Much more airtime. But since they cost a whopping $2000+, it wont be until I finish school

I used to go rock climbing almost 25 years ago. Also, about 11 years ago I smuggled a whole harvest of California(Blueberry to be precise) chronic across state lines from California to Nevada.

I tried to type a good story three times and realized that it more accurately fit the criteria for "dumbest situation I have ever gotten myself into" so to hell with it! I'm just going to go with the funniest.

I was walking through my neighborhood at dusk when some stupid thug ran up to me and tried to rob me at knifepoint. By stupid, I mean that this guy was an imbecile. I happened to be standing next to a mailbox that had fallen on the ground (probably teenagers) and I picked it up and hit him in the face with it.

I should have just run away but I was in such a bad mood that night. I picked up his knife, laughed at him, started acting like I was going to take a piss on him and he freaked out, got up and just stumble ran away.

I felt like such a dick for that. I'm laughing just remembering it.

I forgot the funniest part, when he ran away shouting "I AIN'T GAY, NIGGA". I almost did piss myself from laughing so much.

      • Very funny. But you should be applauded.

Going to fucking Mars, that's what I'd wanna do :)

Out of the stuff I've done, most adventurous was probably doing my driving-as-long-as-possible-without-any-sleep challenges I used to do in my early 20s. 1000 miles (1600km) was my record. Ahh, the good old days :)

    Walking on freshly cooled lava.

    Crossing the North Korean border.

Wading through knee deep ice water to get to the city of Petra.

    Having children.

  • Probably being chased by twenty to thirty people after beating the crap out of two people that tried to choke my friend. It was pretty fun, I got my whole Assassin's Creed on and was climbing everything and laughing while they tried to do the same.

I have had many many adventures. Among the best were scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, and flying a sail plane over Napa Valley, California.
