Today is perfect!!! Can you make it? But we have to drive 20 min into the country. There are 2 and they hang high from the most gorgeous Gulmohar tree with them red flowers on it. They're placed in perpendicular position, on different branches, so when you swing at the same time, you can meet your friend and touch feet when you're up high at the front! The third one, who's waiting for her turn, gets to play with the 4 doggies and eat berries!!! I-spy-capy-birdy funday!!! ^.~

The swing. I can remember a game that was played where we would walk through the swing set while other kids were swinging. If you got hit by an incoming swing before reaching the other side, you lose and have to start again.

    Oh good lord, the swings...

When I was a kid, I just about hated my friends who were lucky enough to live close to parks with swings. When I was a teenager, my Mom went broke thanks to my Dad, and we ended up moving into a ghetto trailer park but the silver lining on the cloud... it has a perfect swing set.

At least twice a week I would get my MP3 player, head phones and go to the park... sit on the swing and listen to music. I would sit for up to 4 hours just thinking about life and listening to music. It was a different world, back and forth, song after song, watching the sunsets, the swing set faced them perfectly.

I would navigate through hundreds of thousands of leaves in order to stare at the autumn sky and watch the leaves fall, trudge through 3 feet of hard packed snow to stare at the beautiful winter stars, endure heat and humidity just to watch the summer sunsets, heavy rain or snow or even hail, just to sit there and go off into la-la land...

    *sigh*

I love me a seesaw, although it can be the saddest place in the playground when you have no one to play with and you really don't want to go on the swing. Kind of what love is like.

Also in my school there's this thingie you hang on to and it spins you around!
    Very popular with 3rd graders...
We have two playgrounds, so 3rd and up could go on this one.

We had a fucking rope swing. It was this giant rope on a long metal cord. You carried it over to this platform and jumped off the platform onto the rope. Then you would ride the rope to the end of the cord, and either stopped by slowing down, or hitting the tires at the end of it. They tore it down because it was dangerous. Best-Thing-Ever.

In fourth grade I went to this school that had a rope playground. It was two giant rope triangles connected by a rope bridge in the middle. Yeah... that was fun, painful when you fall off, though, cause the field under it was cut up rubber pieces probably from tires.

I've always had a weakness for swings. There's just something about being propelled into the air that is just exciting. I love roller coasters for that reason. I like the 'floating' feeling. Sadly, my stomach does not..

The whole thing. My favorite thing to do was climb around the outer edge in its entirety. The jungle gym was never enough.

... Oh yeah, and the handle bar things that you grab and go back and forth.

I almost forgot the tire swing! Way cooler than regular swings.

  • I voted swings, but the see-saw and "rocking horses" (animals with springs on the bottom) were the best.. we just didn't have them at our park.

SWINGS, BABY!!!! There's nothing more fun than swinging higher and higher, then finally jumping off and landing feet-first, to the delight and awe of my fellow classmates. Hell, if I'm out with my friend, we're such kids that we STILL swing when we find ourselves in a park.
Bars would be my second choice though...being a gymnast in my youth, I always loved practicing on the bars at the playground lol.

There is as swing in our yard, We have had it since I was in preschool, There was a time when a cousin of mine who had a toddler wanted to have it it's one of those removable ones, The thought of it just devasted me and I felt so silly a 20 year old for that matter but it has so much sentimental value to me in the end I got to keep my swing. Happy ending!

For some reason, we didn't have any equipment at all, but we did have an area of grass and an area of asphalt. This makes it sound like I was raised in a third world country.

There's a cliche in this country of "jumpers for goalposts" but that's just what we did. Four people took their jumpers off and put them on the floor, to form two sets of goalposts and then we played football. So my favourite would either be a jumper or a football.

Although there was a place near where I grew up with giant chess:

My favourite, which I can't find a picture of, was a giant slide at Lyme Park, which is in a country park with a haunted stately home. It's just a metal slide that goes down a big hill and then has some steps to climb back up the hill.

We didn't have that sort of playground at primary school. We had this weird looking thing (I have *no* idea what it even was). It looked like some sort of weird art project, but it wasn't, we were meant to play on it. It was a bloody death trap! I swear to God they were trying to kill us with that contraption!

During breaks/recess we used to always play tag. "Tag, you're it". Running is just so much fun:D!

At the type of park you're talking about, the swings were by far my favourite. Especially when your friend is on the swing next to you. I'm not sure if anyone else has heard this, but there's this thing here, where if yours and the person next to you's swings are swinging at the same pace you're in love with each other. That was a terrible description, but anyone know what I'm talking about?:P Oh, and I like Roundabouts too, but I never see many of those.

Ah well, here it means you were in love and were going to getting married.

Fine. I didn't want to play in your playground anyway! I'll just go run around on fields and play in bark and you're not invited:P. So there! Ha!

...Don't think you're sending me away that easily, though. Once I'm done running and playing with bark I'm fighting back! Uprising! ¬_¬

  • Oh damn I didn't see play in the grass/fields! We use to have hay fights when they cut the grass. ^^ and we played tickle monsters (ᶘ ᵒᴥᵒᶅ NO go AWAY Pedobear) and mud mania. ;P

Jungle gym tag where you couldn't touch a certain color was fun too.
