What would u do if u found proof that your religion was a lie ?

Let's just say hypothetically somehow u discovered that your religion was built on lies and that u have been fooled & u end up realizing it. Please don't say that that wouldnt happen bcuz this is only HYPOTHETICALLY if u found out, per se.

Regardless of any proof I would never question my faith 10
I have no religion (athiest/agnostic) 57
I would go & have serious talk with the clergy 2

    It's the scientific method. Theists make a claim that a god exists. They have no evidence. Therefore I reject their claim. Faith doesn't have to be disproved, it has to be proved.

    Atheist could still be disproven. If a God showed himself it would disprove atheism.

    To me, religion isn't about what is written in the bible. I mean I do the cross sign thing when I'm in a church and I go to church on major holidays... But to me it's more about tradition, than the actual religion.

    I think I'm smart enough to know that the world wasn't made in seven days, or that the planet wasn't flooded and one guy built a mile-long ship to save life on Earth... That's make belief.

    But sitting down with the family on Christmas eve, or Easter... That's what it's about for me.
    As for what I personally believe... That's a different thing. It's a mix of a lot of things. Maybe religions are based on true facts, but we have yet to uncover those facts.

    So in general, I wouldn't be much affected. I'd carry on with my life.

    You really can't prove or disprove faith...that's why it's called faith. There are always arguments on both sides. Honestly, there is a reason that Jesus, or whomever your God happens to be, doesn't fly out if the sky on a unicorn and shoot lasers out of his eyes to vaporize all the sinners. If you could PROVE that god existed, there would be no free will- and free will is a tenet of every major religion. If you had no choice to believe in god, then your faith would be nullified, meaningless.

    Ps this is coming from someone who has not even decided if they are religious or not

      It would be possible to prove that the bible had been fabricated. (for example) as it stands, its on faith.. Ever heard of the term "forbidden archeology" that is evidence of cover up, I think anyway. If u look at the archeoogical remains, it doesnt match the bible on many things, like acient egypt was obviously something mystical. Just study the forensic evidence left behind. Why wasnt that mentioned at all in the bible? Also, the word "jew" does not appear in the bible at all. Something is amiss there from my perspective.

    Religion was created to control the masses, or at least those who cant see thru the smoke and mirrors presented in the many books/supposed gold plates of lies from the past....

    Also just will lead to more wars with ppl disagreeing about everything!!!!

    I'll have to twist it around as i'm an athiest but if I was shown proof that god existed I'd probably just find it funny, then it'd dawn on me that i'd be going to hell
