I was wondering how you would if you won the lottery how would you spend the money?
First make huge donation to help the homeless people, then pay off my house and buy a villa in Italy.
I would buy stocks and bonds. I already own heaps of them, but I love the way they pay interest / dividends and increase in value. Creating more money is a really fun way to enjoy money without destroying it. And, the happy side effect is that it gets the economy working for almost everybody. Of course, you get disproportionately large benefits if you manage your investments well.
I guess I'd buy a really big house, and I would preferably buy a house that either had an elevator, or enough room to have an elevator installed. I would get the elevator for my elderly parents.
I would also get two Siamese kittens, and a puppy.
I would build a wonderful gym in the basement. Maybe build a home theater room. I would definitely need a pool, and a hot tub.
A remote log cabin away from people with mountain views, a waterfall nearby and not too far from the ocean. A place where the temperature never goes over 75°f, and no more than 30 to 40° humidity. Totally off the grid. Yes please.
I'd buy a house. That's really the only thing I can think of right away.
Buy a few properties and build a cabin in the woods somewhere. Buy few dirt bikes and 4 wheelers. Buy a 1980s k10 and restore it. Buy abunchof guns. Build an underground tunnel beneath my cabin. Buy abunch of colombian hookers
Renovate my parents apartment in Bulgaria, invest more in my business, move back to Bulgaria, open a car restoration/ tuning shop and probably buy a few more cars (Saab 99 Turbo, Mercedes 560SEC, Plymouth Fury 1959 and maybe a 1964/65 Buick Riviera).
The rest of the money goes in the bank, ready for further investments. If the jackpot is a big one - I'll invest in SpaceX stocks and buy a Sanlorenzo SL118 yacht.
Eventually I'll donate money to universities, hospitals and other places of science.
Put it in the bank. I need a far bigger amount than a lottery for my goals.
I'd put all the lottery money into my account and spend half of it on something useful to me in life.
Several acres in the middle of nowhere with a running stream on the property.
Depends which lottery. If I won $1,000,000, I would spend a portion on: myself (25%), immediate family (25%), extended family (25%), and charity (25%)
Some land.
Then I would pay back the loan of my siblings. I don't like long flights so I don't know if I'll travel.
I would buy a house to live in, put some aside for electricity, gas and water, and invest the rest in funds and real estate. I would not stop working. Work gives structure to the day and I need structure.
I'd calculate the amount of it I'd need to live on for the next 60-70 years. I'd take into account the loss on it from inflation, and calculate how much I'd need to make on it from investing that it'll definitely last that long. It might not be enough to last that long, but by investing it I should be able to increase it enough so that it will last that long. That'd mean I won't be able to spend any of it on anything fancy, but being financially secure for life no matter what happens would be better.
A property for me, an investment, driving lessons, a car, insurance, a training qualification, renew my electronics/appliances that need it, put some in an ISA to take out when I get married and have kids (if ever...), keep some to care for my parents in their old age, and spend some on a financial manager to help me make wise money choices with what I allow myself to keep. I'd rather make money sustainably than live off one massive lump sum.
Because with the lottery you end up getting way more than you need if you're not into luxurious living, the rest can go to a handful of small charity projects where money is needed, and where I know there are people who are good at financial management.
