What would you think if you saw a 16 year old pregnant?

So if you only knew that she was supposed to be really smart and go to university but had gotten pregnant. She'd been with her boyfried for about a year beforehand.

It's her business. 54
Stupid slut. 55
She'll be a bad mother. 9
She'll be a good mother. 4
It's her parents fault. 7
Poor girl, she must be going through a tough time. 65
Shame she couldn't have waited. 52

I hate the stereotype teenage mothers get. The only 100% effective contraception there is is to not have sex, and I don't see teenagers doing that any time soon. And there's no reason why they shouldn't have sex, a lot of teenagers are ready and mature enough to have sex.

My sister was on the implant when she became pregnant, which goes to show that there will always be a risk. And she is an amazing mother. It's not how she planned it, but she wouldn't have it any other way.

I feel sorry for the teenagers who don't have any support from their family, god knows how they manage. And I also feel sorry for all of the other teenage mothers who get called sluts etc...

Most teens are having sex anyway, at least teenage mothers are brave enough to face the consequences of their actions, instead of just using abortion as an option.

For all I know, she could've been raped. Maybe she wanted the baby and was a complete dumbass. But I don't know her situation, so it's her business.

These days its like a trend. I feel bad for those who think life is easy, just taking risks without using their heads. Obviously for minor age pregnancy, these are composed mostly of individuals who have never experienced how to earn hard money. Sometimes rebellion had driven these poor girls but still it all starts with a choice.

I tend to feel very sorry for them. Giving up their youth so quickly and I feel even more sorry for the baby... She would have given him/her a much better upbringing if she was older when she was stabalised and had a job and a house and would have had more resources. Additionally, I feel sorry for the girls mother, it's her who will help her daughter raise the child, as if a 16 year old girl who was so eager to jump to sex and not bother with school would not a lot about how to raise children. Only a few may know what to do but the rest... I don't think so.

It's hard to raise children, I grew up quicker than most children, at the age of 11 I was raising my sister, then another year my brother followed by another few years my baby bro. See, I didn't have the chance like 16 year old girls have these days to play around and do what they want, I was stuck at home raising my siblings because my parents were constantly working. And you know what, I am glad I was home most of the time. It made me not do the silly things teenagers do these days. Im 22 and doing my masters in law and if I want to have children, I would want to be 28/29 when I'm old enough to provide them their own home and all the resources they need.

I feel beyond sorry for ty new generation.. No sense of respect for themselves, they play around and do foolish things thinking there are no consequences...

at that age? of course it makes you stupid, if not, then what does it make you?Really smart?i don't think so.Yes she can continue her education but who has to take care of the child?hmm..?her parents, grandparents?well, i bet they think shes smart as a whip.
and if she doesn't continue her education well..it just brings me back to my point.STUPID!she will most likely ruin her life, and the child's life IF she doesn't decide to give the baby for adoption.

You have NOT mentioned the guy's responsability for knocking her up. Do you not think the guy is stupid? Or his parents need to help care for the baby? You seem to think that it is all her fault, why?

read the title of this poll again..and then get back to me.
obviously he's just as dumb as her but as the TITLE of the poll says shes supposed to be the smart one, doesn't say anything about him, just that she knew him for a year.In conclusion, i was working with what the poster of the poll gave me."What would i think if i saw a 16 year old pregnant".
            Once again, READ THE TITLE!!!!

      • If someone has had a baby at a young age that doesn't benefit the child or herself, then yes, it's stupid. How would she possible be able to support the child if she hasn't finnished her education?#

By the way, yes, I deleted the narcissist story. Not that it means anything to you, but when you side with someone that would rather insult than make valid points, you just lose respect.

It has come to me that people like you would rather like to hear people be depressed and not confident or have pride in their intelligence or appearance rather than rationally talk to someone that is proud to be themself.

I know a few people who still continue there education even with a child. And the act itself might be stupid, but I don't think it makes the person.

As for the other story, you were just as petty as anyone else, I've talked to you on chat so you know where I stand. And if you've ever read any of my other comments then you'll see I'm the opposite. I'm sick of people being insulted for liking themselves, as if it's a crime! But you asked why people think you're a narcissist and I told you.

As a side note, I'm guessing there will be many more stories/polls from you so here's some constructive criticism: Be able to back your claims up with proof, and stop making things personal, be objective! That's were your lacking and why people won't listen to you.

She'll be fine, can be tough but she'll get through it. Some of the best mothers I know were very young mums. Its not about the age, its about their love and desire for their children :)

I also hate the stereotype on young mothers to be.. Just because they are pregnant doesn't make them a slut. A huge percentage of teens have sex and pregnancy could happen to every one of them.

I personally HATE seeing a 16 year old pregnant.
I was raised in a culture outside of America where school and success is a priority rather than kids.
No one ever got pregnant at 16. lol
When i see a young person with a kid i think, "You just ruined your life and an awesome future."
I understand that your kid means everything to you and you love it with all of your heart bla bla bla and its the best thing that ever happened but please, that kid will continue to always give you problems till its 19 or 18.
You'll regret it no matter how much you love the kid.
You would have gone to college, graduated, but because of a kid, you had to wait a bit. That kid would cost you 1000s of dollars. Whats even worse......you taking money from the government to fend for a kid you shouldn't have had.
AND OMG no one gets raped in broad daylight. You should be safe in your house at 8-9pm as a 16 year old.

Teenagers will always be having sex before they are mature enough to raise a kid (mature enough for me would be in a stable relationship and with a good, stable job). There is no way to stop them either so why bother. The best way to prevent unplanned pregnancy is birth control. The effectiveness rate for the pill is 99.7%, condoms 98% and plan B (which is NOT an abortion pill)is 95% effective if taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex. IF used correctly, I doubt anyone has ever became pregnant while using the pill and a condom at the same time,

Its stuff like this that causes arguements. People just need to except others opinions and not argue. Calling people stupid is too overrated also.

But I'll put my opinion. When I see a pregnant 16 year old, I think it's a shame that she couldn't wait, normally. Most teen moms aren't ready to be a mom. I don't see it as being smart by any means. I'm not calling her a slut either, maybe she fell in love with a guy and couldn't help it. Teens seem to have less control in themselves and also most teen moms are single from what I've seen. What child would want to be seen with two dads or possibly more?

Depends on the sixteen year old and who knocked her up.
Seeing a sixteen year old pregnant crackwhore who got knocked up by some random guy,is not exactly the same thing as seeing a middle class sixteen years old girl who got knocked up by a bigshot and goes around town in a cadillac. Isn't it?
Quit the fucking retoric already. Age does not mean anything.
I seen sixteen years old girls who were way more responsible than thirty years old women. I just don't get you people. If the baby is going to find people who care for him/her no matter what, it does not make any difference whether he lives with his parents or their age. Will he have enough to eat? Will he have a place he can call home? Will he have a good education? Somebody to rely on? Those are the important things. Everything else doesn't matter.
I know how you people think about these things:
But will he spent enough time with his parents? She is too young for parenting! And blah blah. I'd rather stick with facts than with theology and apparently universal dogmas that should apply to everybody indistinctively.
I am probably too open minded about this subject.
Overcome? She did not catch a potentially deadly illness for the sake of the ostetrician! You talk as if she'll have to go through this big thing, it is hard only if people are already disorganized. If their lives were already fucked up.
It isn't the end of the world, it is a new life, with a communitary effort it won't go to waste. What the fuck are you people even talking about?
I am sorry, i understand. Shitty world. Shitty people. Shitty ideals.
    Gross generalizations are the norm..
    You people suck.

    • As far as I can see most people have said that they don't judge them too much. There are a few people who aren't supportive but ya know.

Personally I think teens can make good mums, it's just often harder for them because of finance and society.

Nowadays, if you go to a UC (University of California), being a single mother gets you a free ride (financially) through college. Having a kid at a young age, then, can be a wise and strategical advantage.
