Have you had the surgery yet?
I was supposed to have the surgery on the 26th, but it was delayed until the 31st due to an issue with my insurance.
I was provided the options of limb reconstruction surgery or have a limb amputation from a few inches above my knee. Due to the price of limb reconstruction surgery, I opted for amputation. Something I did not take lightly.
Hope you can get a kickass prosthesis.
Or are you the type of person who would rather do their best to hide the amputation?
Either way best of luck with the surgery and recovery.
I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope everything else goes well for you anyway. Good luck with everything.
Sorry about life being a bag of dicks. I hope you have a solid support system around you and wish you the best.
I don't know what else to say, but that that sounds intense, and that I imagine the sense of loss is/will be very real. I wish you all the very best.
Thanks for letting us know. I was not aware that they had a leg reconstruction option. Nice to know that medicine has advanced for this kind of cancer so at least its an option.
I'm pulling for you...
I believe it's also referred to as a limb salvage surgery. I'm sure the internet could explain it better than I can but it allows for a bone graft to be used to save most of the surrounding tissue. (As well as the leg.)
It unfortunately was outside of my price range but I was suprised when it was an option provided to me.
After insurance paid for part of the cost, I would have been paying 55,000 USD out of pocket. Between rent, student loan debt, and that; I would be miserable.
I don't want to lose my leg but I don't want to ruin my life financially.
I understand your dilemma. You have my support for your choice. In reality, either choice is a much better option than dying.
Idk about interest rates on this but a 30 year loan would cost $151 a month without considering the interest. Thats not TOO bad. And if you miss payments what are they gonna do, take the leg? Id just not pay it if I didnt have the money.
Side weird question.
Do you want to keep the amputated leg or the bones/ashes.
If I got a limb cut off I would want to have it still in my possession. Idk make a necklace out of the bones if possible.
Its morbid but it's still you, well apart of you.
I hope everything works out well for you, and am sending positive thoughts your way!
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. It's nice to see that there's people rooting for me.
I love the kind of rally support IIN can give to people down on their luck.
