    2 + 8 / 2
    2 + (8 / 2)
    2 + 4
    6

If no parantheses are present, multiplication and division are given higher precedence than addition and subtraction.

    2+8=10÷2=5

Is this some kinda lame joke?

I think the dude forgot order of operations and was too dumb to google it. He is in remedial math after all

Actually, his question doesn't really help either. Dumbass put it in words instead of an equation to where we'd know which the fuck he's asking so he's probably trolling.

      (2+8)/2
      Or
      2 + (8/2)

Yeah, I got a thumbs down for saying it was 5, but I'm not much of a math person to be honest. Besides it was, written in words, like you said, and not in an equation. Yeah, I figured it was a joke, or a troll to be completely honest.

As you can see I'm pretty much a straight up liberal arts type of person. I think in words right out of the gate. My only consolation is the fact that OP's punctuation and capitalization skills are atrocious. Woe is I.

Listen up. You can do this. You're a big girl.

          Operator precedence

          1. ( )
          2. ^
          3. *, /
          4. +, -
          5. And, Or, Not

Okay?, okay. Use your photographic memory.

            PEMDAS

            Parenthesis
            Exponents
            Multiplication
            Addition
            Subtraction

This is so much easier to remember than what you wrote

I am, in retrospect, aware of those rules with regard to the writing of equations. However, my knee jerk response was more about words than numbers so to change my answer now, or make a second attempt would be like cheating.

I feel relieved that you know where to look this stuff up. But, to change your answer now would be like a professional aeronautical engineer that takes action on Critical Design Review comments quickly and efficiently. Next time your 737 rolls upward as you lift off the runway, be glad that plenty of answers were changed by dedicated professionals that were committed to getting you back on the ground safely. Math counts. If it's wrong, people die.

It can be 5 or 6, originally I thought 5 as well then realized he is purposely being vague so it's most likely a troll OR I suppose maybe they're meant to realize division comes first making it 6.
          Thumbed u back up. 🐾

ask a female teacher , they will tell you why they dont know the answer, they will tell you who fault it is.

It really matters where the brackets are in the equation, if any. You always solve what is in the brackets first. BUT since your question did not mention brackets then do the addition first then the division like this:

8+2/2=5 if brackets were used it would be (8+2)/2=5

    8+2 = 10 then divide by 2. 10/2 = 5

    Hope this helps.

It's 5. 2+8= 10 10/2= 5. Some people will say it is 6 but that's not how the equation is written in the heading.

I remember being taught this in high school now that this has been typed.

    BODMAS
    Brackets
    Operation
    Division
    Mulitplication
    Addition
    Subtraction

Stick to a bucket of water with detergent and a mop, forget about remedial classes, a preschooler could do better than you at math.

Toup was a Scottish king who felt a sense of responsibility for his actions 7 times. 7 is the number referred to as this was the highest ontological experience of his existence. Also it is divided by one to account for the separation between Toup and his experiences. Lus is a diagonal quadratic equation, I will use A B and C instead of L, U, and S. The differences in the alphabet between A and L, B and U, and C and S, are 11, 14, and 16 respectively. The equation is 11a^3 + 14b^2 + 16c = 80.
Vided is the length of the text lines of the characters of this quadratic equation written in 12 point Times New Roman font. B is then placed above the beginning of the problem and then the diagonal is read 1b 1a^3 + 14b^2 + 16c = 80. Now this here is the trick, I imagine why this problem was given. Most students will think they can simplify to 15b^2 but sloppily realise they're adding a b^2 when all they have is a b. This correctly simplifies to a^3 + 14b^2 + b + 16c = 80.
This is then all placed along the Y axis so read sideways the equation is, 08c61=+b+2b41+37/1a. This reduces to 488c=3b(78/a)

    its 6
if theres parentheses around 2+8 then its five memorize PEMDAS
    Parentheses
    Exponents
    Multiplication
    Division
    Addition
    Subtraction

follow that order every time you do a math problem

Also, multiplication and division are interchangeable for the order of operations so do whichever comes first. Same for addition and subtraction.

    Well, lets see.

The President plus another one makes two.

Add in an octopus, which has eight arms, and what do you get?

    Five!

If the 2 presidents in your example are Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump, you get 2 fapshafts and a dead octopus which they share with eachother over a couple of bottles of high-quality pinot noir.
