Oh oh oh, I know, I know!

        Asstrollogy

        The study of ass trolling.

Example: During coitus, when the receptive partner is on all fours, the penetrative(?) partner pretends that he will penetrate the asshole by adding slight pressure with his phallus. So as to troll the receptive partner.

If you have any interest in this stuff, you must realize that your sun sign is only 1/15th of the whole equation. You have a sun sign (what you asked about), a moon sign, a rising sign and 12 houses.
I'm not saying there is anything to astrology (but it is fun to play around with), but thinking you can learn anything about someone from just their sun sign is a bit like judging a person by the shape of their nose.
I'm a Virgo/Libra cusp (I was born within a few minutes of the change) with Aries rising and a Leo moon, for instance.

Why does any of that matter? Why is it fun? How does the light coming from random stars, whose positions have no significance beyond the very narrow vantage point provided by our random location in the cosmos, determine anything about individuals belonging only to the most intelligent species on the aforementioned random location in the cosmos?

It beats the shit out of religion as far as a belief system goes and folks aren't running around killing all the Leos just because their not Virgos; that's fun, ain't it? How exactly is it detrimental?
Why are you making such an issue about this? I just said it wasn't necessary to believe in this stuff, but it is kind of fun to see how closely knowing your full astrological self is to who you really are.
        I suppose you'd prefer Phrenology?

Simply because something is the lesser of two evils does not make it good or fun. Sure, I can't recall people killing eachother because of astrology. That does not mean it is free of consequences. It is not only a cause for arbitrary prejudice, but a hindrance to the progression of humanity. It causes people to look for answers in not only the most lazy of ways, but in the wrong places.

Why is it fun? What a silly question.

And it isn't about the light from any one star. It is a symbol. The concept of symbolism is so lost in people these days.

        • ArmusWasTheFirstTroll

Why is that a silly question? He said it was fun and I asked why? I can say why I think things are fun. It is incorrect for me to assume that others are capable of doing the same?

I never said anything about individual stars. Many of these "symbols" come from constellations. The constellations only exist from where we currently exist. We see them as if they were on a two dimensional plane when they exist in three dimensions. If you were to see them from a different angle you would likely not be able to discern any shape from them. Hence, the comment you responded to.

You shouldn't be to quick to judge what other's get from something. I understand the symbolism. What I don't understand is the need to believe in something so undeniably false and detrimental.

It is silly to ask anyone why they think their hobby is fun. You don't have to agree with my idea of fun, but to question why anything is fun is completely subjective.

I believe that the way most people view astrology is detrimental to the reality of the story it tells, but not everyone has it wrong. It is written in the starts has a deeper meaning and should not be taken literally, as with many texts. Constellations and planets have names, those names have meaning. To give you an example, when the full moon is in cancer, the interpretation isn't depicting the physical properties, it is depicting the mythology of the mother. It suggests that it is a good time to check in with your heart, your nurturing side.

No, the light of the moon shining, the particles that pass through the atmosphere and the stardust in your eyes aren't the story. It is merely a way of encouraging you to ask internal questions for self reflection. The passing of seasons and time is marked by the calender in the sky.

Personally, I see little reason to criticize people for looking at the stars for answers. We have always looked up for answers. We are all looking for answers to the same unanswerable questions. It is unfortunate that some ask the wrong questions, but that's humanity for you. Too much looking down and we forget that we are part of something bigger, something unexplainable.

Just because something subjective does not mean it is immune to explanation.

Anyway, people in the past looked to the stars for metaphysical answers. The problem with looking outside for answers is that you are making yourself blind to the fact that all answers come from within. They come in the form of understanding. To go from a point of understanding less to a point of understanding more we use a tool. The tool we use to attain a better understanding of anything is the mind which is located in
              the brain.

So yes, I criticize people that make using your brain less sound appealing.

Also, I am unsure as to whether you miss-typed or if the following statement was intentional: "we are all looking for answers in the same unanswerable questions." If it was intended, allow me to rebut. If the questions are unanswerable, what then, is the point in trying to get answers from the stars? That is a contradiction.

Don't know why they voted you down.. but anyway.. right you are.
There's also the cusp, your planetary alignments, where you were born (northern/southern hemisphere, latitude and longitude, the time). In the 12 houses there are also divisions.
It has a ton of stuff behind just what a person's sun sign is.

And all that is only used to make a natal chart. Go figure

Yep, I hate how people lump horoscopes and astrology together. That's like comparing a microwave oven to a gourmet chef.

And it isn't about predictions, it's about potentials. So many are too quick to criticize something they know little about. All they know is that it isn't science. Well who fucking cares, art isn't science either and that's still fun.

      • ArmusWasTheFirstTroll

Art has intrinsic importance to humanity. It is how we express what we mean beyond the prison of language. Most scientists respect artists because they both strive to learn more about the nature of things.

Astrology is wholly irrelevant to the nature of people. It doesn't matter if it is about predictions or potentials. Star light and its position in relation to ours is not a feasible measure with which to determine anything about anyone. Furthermore, horoscopes are a detriment to the progression of humanity. Like most terrible aspects of religion, horoscopes allow you to judge people before you ever get to truly know them. A person will hate another because she is a Scorpio; instead of judging her by the content of her character.

Who is retarded enough to seriously judge someone on their starsign? It was like the first pyschology of the ancients. The character studies are very intriguing from a psychological and artistic perspective. Their truth is general and any starsign is applicable to anyone. But it's generally harmless even when people 'believe' in this.

I am an Aquarius and I find the entire concept interesting.
I am on the fence when it comes to belief.
I do have an amazing book that covers everything about this.
Crazy stuff that can be freakishly accurate when it feels like it. Like pisces' weakest part on their body is the feet and ankles. Aries being prone to head injuries, headaches, having a scar or mark somewhere on their heads. Stuff like that

    • Freedom_

I'm so headstrong I was about to deny the head injuries thing. But then I thought about all the times I've been bumped on my noggin. When I was a kid I jumped up on a counter top and hit the corner of an open cabinet door. I fell off a bunk bed and my head the wall. I ran into a pole (lol) and had a huge knot right in the middle of my forehead. And I've also been punched a couple times in the forehead. Not to mention my biggest fear while driving (for some reason) is my head getting smashed against the concrete. Needless to say, motorcycles will not be my thing. Thinking about this makes me want to go hide in a closet but then I'd probably just develop a mental disorder

And me, being Aquarius (which is actually an Air sign?!?) my weakest part is supposed to be my shins and calves. Mine are skinny :( and I hate them and they are always bruised or have some scabs on from bumping into stuff

I'm a Libra, ever since the craze of horoscopes lately Ive been interested in this sort of thing. But obviously your date of birth has nothing to do with what you're like. I found it interesting to take the Myers-Briggs test, and it will give you 4 letters that represent your personality and it's quite accurate. Then you can look up your letters and see facts about them, for example I'm an INFJ, which fascinated me when I found out is the rarest personality type in the world out of 16. Highly recommend the Myers-Briggs test to anyone interested in Astrology because it isn't fake

I do find researching astrology and horoscopes very interesting, but the way the planets were aligned at my birth isn't something I'm going to say dictates my personality or fate. That seems a little irrational to me.

Therefore, me telling you my zodiac sign isn't going to give you anything but assumed information.
