There are laws in California now that allow the state to take children and charge parents with child abuse if they dont allow their children to transition by taking hormones. Do you think children should even be allowed to make this type of decision?
Kids under 16 cannot consent to sex in any state in the USA but now suddenly they can consent to taking hormones and changing genders? Seems crazy that a 4 year old can make that decision.

Kids are stupid they don't even know what they want. Allowing them to transition before they're even an adult IS child abuse. The world is going crazy.
- If you are someone that exploits a child by convincing them into transitioning to affirm your view on gender then you are a child groomer.
- If you are a parent that allowed your child to transition then you failed as a parent. Your duty as a parent is to protect your children from bad choices influenced by outside sources, even if that outside source is popular culture.
- If your child transitions and then commits suicide over the subject then you killed your child.
It's that simple, and no, the time to allow a little wiggle room has past. We accepted adults making this decision and those adults then decided it wasn't enough and then want to come after YOUR kids. At that point a shotgun to the throat is warranted as they are child groomers.

You seem to feel very strongly on this subject. Do you believe in transgender-ism in general, or do you just feel like kids can't decide on such matters? I think I remember you having some negative views on trans people in general, like that they were faking or wanting to be a gender for some superficial reasons only.

I don't believe children have the capacity to make an informed choice on transitioning to the opposite sex, especially not when it has become societally permissible for outside parties to convince children into being trans, in some cases planting that seed as being the remedy for their problems. Children don't know the full consequences of such a decision, nor do they know to what extent the consequences will reach and how it will limit their access to one of the most important aspects of adult life; romance. They're also unaware that there are adults out there that will prey on these troubled kids into being Trans to essentially affirm their view on the topic of Trans people.
Do I believe Trans people exist? As a mental disorder, definitely. Should we allow adults to transition? It's not our decision to make that call, it's theirs as I don't think it's the type of mental disability that would prevent them from having the capacity to make such a decision as an adult. Kids are off limits, though.
That said, do I also believe a lot of "trans" people are faking? For sure. I don't know to what extent people are faking being Trans but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the majority since it's popularity as a fashion in itself has blossomed. I hold this position because as the concept of Trans became more popular so did the ease in which you can grift the group while committing to nothing in regards to actually transitioning while still obtaining the social image of being "trans" even though they have no intent in actually "transitioning".
I agree unfortunately we are seeing an organized effort on the groomers part. I know a lady who works in the school system (US), her daughter at 11 expressed her self and told people she wanted to be a boy. The lady kind of leaned towards, the no, you're too young side, but felt pressured and that her job was in jeopardy if she didn't allow or support her daughter's choice.
Her daughter started hormones at 12. It's now 14 and we'll see what happens down the road.

A child can decide they're a cat one day, of course some adults do too but that's mental illness for ya.
Absolutely not, when I was 13 I begged my parents to let me get a nose piercing and just kept going on about it until they gave in, now I just think it looks kinda stupid and wish I’d never got it. Imagine that situation with irreversible hormones and mutilating surgery. All preteens/young teens are just desperate to be trendy and to impress their peers and seeing as LGBT and neo genders are the in thing, that’s what they’re doing. If people want to be trans, that’s their business but it should never be on the NHS and never for children.
Before I first started hearing about trans children, I would've said no. But since the general consensus among child psychologists is that they are able to make that decision for themselves (after being assessed by a professional to ensure they're not just attention seeking), I agree with them. They're the professionals after all, what do I know?
Not to mention that when they talk about kids this young transitioning theyre not talking HRT and surgery. Theyre talking hormone blockers that only delay puberty to give the kids time for therapy to make sure this is the best solution for them. Stop taking them, puberty progresses. Keep taking them until the child is old enough to make an informed decision.
I’m glad to see that the members on iin are at least slightly sane, gives me hope for this place. Personally I think the absolute minimum age for medically transitioning should be 18, maybe even 21 or 25.
It would totally depend on the age and situation.
I can see where some young adults at or above 16 (who were early bloomers, and had lots of responsibility) could in fact be responsible enough to make such a decision.
You also have the situation of "Emancipated Minors" where the Court and State have recognized someone under the age of 18 as being competent to manage their own affairs, and their parents no longer have legal responsibilities for them. Emancipation of a minor is automatic in the USA if a minor marries, or joins the military. In most other cases these people will have court issued legal papers concerning their status and ability to sign contracts, etc.
What if its a 6 year old? Its parents didnt want to give it hormones and the state was gonna take the child for refusal to give hormones.
6 year olds dont go throw puberty last I checked so is to young very obviously. The ideal time to start hrt is when puberty would naturally start. Second ideal time is before 20. After that your pretty much fucked. After 30 dont even bother.
I say this because hrt is very slow if you've gone though your natural puberty. Otherwise it takes the same time as a natural puberty wich isn't exactly fast either.
While I am mostly for kids making thier own medical decisions, I have to say no in this instance. During puberty children are very hormonal and often do not know how to process emotions correctly. So I feel like at this time they are likely going to make decisions they later regret. Im any other medical decision aside from required school shots I feel they should have the right to say no. When I was a child I had to redo bloodwork about 5 times within 2 weeks because doctor said I was skinny so they believed I was anemic. I also was very phobic of needles which everyone knew but decided to continue and tramatize me. When the test came back negitive the doctor made them redo it over and over. I would have liked the right to say no to this bullshit and I feel like doctors should care about a childs mental well being but I know they don't give a shit. Children are garbage is society afterall. We have so many teen pregnancys since teens are hormonal and schools only teach abstinence.
I agree that at a certain age and mental responsibility that young adults/children have the right to say NO.
They also have the same right to say YES.
You cannot reasonably argue for only the right to say no. If a person is old enough to make decisions on an issue. That means they can say no, yes, or ask about other options.
Young adult is anyone over 18 so they already have the right to say no to anything. Children are anything under 18. I say right to say no in any other case aside from transitioning because hormones. Before age 18 children have no right to say no to anything even if you are causing them severe mental and physical trauma.
My opinion is homeschool your kids with online courses and control the media they're exposed to. And don't let them near any child therapist.
so your opinion is to not only aducate your kids in a way they'll never be exposed to new ideas but also deny them from getting the medical help they might need? because it hurts your out of date worldview

You clearly never been to public school or watched any media. Otherwise you would realize its trash. Also public school counslers and therapists work for the school and their loyalty is helping school make a quick buck. They are not there to help children. I been to 7 different public schools and anyone who has been to one can tell you how corrupt and useless it is.
I know dysphoria can be difficult, and is very real, but most kids go through a phase like this. I feel some kids will rarely even use this as an attention thing. I say it's too risky, and they should wait until they know for sure and are old enough to make those decisions.
Well, I guess people can identify themselves as whatever gender or sex ever since childhood, as there indeed are trans people that have identified themselves as what they are now ever since they were children, and identifying as some gender when you're underage isn't always some "phase", but I personally think that people should not let children under 18 go to any sex change operation, hormone therapy, etc. because children and underages teens are not as able to make good decisions as adults are.
I think that law is a bit excessive but how do you excersize children's rights? Its a complicated issue. But I do think kids should be allowed access. After discussing with a professional spending time living as etc. Much like it is with adults. Going from the data learned from those experiences if its something they truly want they should get it. I started when I was 19. It was the best decision of my life. I tried many years earlier but my mom wouldn't let me. My dad probably would have but he abandoned us so I was stuck with someone who didn't care enough about my happiness. Yes she had the money my dad was paying a small fortune in child support and no we never saw that money.
Being able to start my transition earlier one would have been amazing for my mental health rather than suffering through that living hell. Yea bullies would of been a problem but they already were a problem so nothing would of changed there. I was a social outcast already. At least I would of been a happy one.
If it wasn't for my determination and stubbornness I probably would of killed myself or turned to drugs or some other self destructive thing like so many poor souls do. Lord knows I've had temptations.
I say give people access to the resources they need to have a happy and productive life.
People should remember that genuine trans people exist. Maybe the teen years should be early enough to seek a special permission for transitioning (before that its just too early to tell), but not just because its something the child or parent said they wanted one day. Once adult one should be able to choose freely. Its difficult balancing people who may regret it and people who will never have a good life without that transitioning, especially when young

I think they should wait till adulthood. Children can be allowed to dress and act and have interests of the opposite sex but doing physical things like hormones is going too far. They arent yet fully developed and do not inherently understand the consequences of their actions as well as adults, they often have a vivid imagination. To me its just common sense they shouldn't be taking hormones (unless treating an actual medical problem) at that age
I think it's fucked up. It takes a lot for me to say "child abuse" I think under 16s should be able to be resonablly physically punished by their parents. I think 14 year olds should be able to drink beer and soft alchohol, and I think circumsicision should be at the parents discresion, but this, this seems like it could and would fuck children up by a large degree.
Kids are not mentally developed enough to make their own decisions. If a 4 year old kid dresses in girls clothes, they will grow out of it when they are older. There is no need to transition.

children are not mature enough to make that kind of decision. When they are of legal age then they can make that derision for themselves.
If you know something ain't right, you know. That being said, there are too many outside factors that can manipulate the mind of a young child (from both sides). Any bit of doubt can fuck them over if they decide that it wasnt right years down the road.
I think it's wise for children to wait till they are a little bit older, when they can better articulate their thoughts and feelings.

No. Kids are not able to conciously make such big decisions on their own nor predict their consequences, especially the long-term ones. Everyone should be able to make decisions about themselves, but only when their brain is developed enough.
Not my kids dont plan on having kids so I dont really care what others are doing. Why stress over something that honestly dose not concern me or you or anyone else?

Is it happening everywhere? No im sure its not as big a deal as conservatives make it. Society will move on and there are more important things to worry about. As I said why worry about what others are doing? It has to do with society because they are part of society... A society isn't just you on your own, it's all the many different people that make it up too.

I don't think that's a threat to society; if you want to do consensual S&M and be a "degenerate" then fine. I think there's actual real harm being done by giving children the option to transition though, in the same way you don't let a babe infront of an open fire or that you care if someone is doing pedo shit.
