When do you consider someone "old"?

I consider someone old at 22 years of age. I think that at age 22, you should be settled down and have a great job. Someone that age should also stop going on nights out with friends and should own up to their elder status.

Someone who turns 22 is old 5
Someone who is 33 is old 11
Someone who is 44 is old 29
Someone who is 55 is old 23
Someone who is 65 is old 46
Someone who is 75 is old 21
Someone over 75 is old 17
No one is old 20

  • Why do you think that? You are going to have a very boring uneventful life with that kind of thinking.

You're old if you remember the Titanic and the roaring 20s.

I see you, I feeeeeeel you,
That is how I know you - go ooooon

          Far across the distance
          And spaces betweeeeen us
You have come to show you - go ooooon

          Near, far, where-eeeeever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on!

A person should have a great job at 22? Really? A lucky person graduates college by 22. A smart person goes to graduate or professional school just to land a decent job. Success doesn't typically happen till late 20's early 30's.

    How old are you?

I don't think it can be a judgement of years, only. I've met some very old 50 year old folks and some pretty damn young 75 year folks.
If you only judge by looks, you are basing your opinion on a portion of who a person really is.

Yeah, some people are old at 40, and some people are young at 70. It really just depends on the person.

Maybe you're not from one of the major countries most of the people on this site are from because your expectations do seem unrealistic.

You expect far too much for people in their early twenties.

    How old are you, OP?

You're not old until you live to see it all.

You must be young or naive... Personally, 'old' to me is someone around their late 70's.

I'm 22. So I should have a wife, kids and be the manager of a company?! Fat chance! I'm a university student. I'll probably settle down when I'm near my 30's

As for the question. I consider someone over 65 to be truly old.

I'd say old age starts somewhere in one's 60s as middle age would be one's 40s or 50s. However, some people feel as if they haven't aged since their middle/high school years (there's some who feel much older than their physical age too).

About a 10-14 years older than me.

Great job at 22? I think you need to be more realistic with those ambitions. You'd be what, just out of college? Good luck finding a *good* job—forget about great.

And no nights out with friends? That's just ridiculous. I'm not sure where you even got such an idea, since I never heard anyone else have such views.

Really and how is 65 even old? Some people in their mid-sixties look 40 to me and act even younger. I think old only happens when you're at least 80. I can't even believe people voted 44 and 33 as old! People in their thirties are the young celebrities teens and tweens crush on in movies and people in their forties often look in their thirties.
