When you buy things you like, do you buy more then one?

Whenever I'm ordering something I like off Ebay, or shop for something like Shoes, Clothes, Accessories and etc, and I almost ALWAYS have to buy more then one of the same thing. I do this because it makes me feel more secure. If I lose something and/or damage it, I'll have another one(s) as a backup. Does anyone else do this with the things you like buying?

    yes i'm the same! when i buy one shoe i immediately buy another. i'm crazy that way

    I only do this for things I know I'll want forever, like this black dress I bought on a whim that makes me look amazing. As soon as I realized how great and versatile it was I immediately ordered a second one. I know I'll always have a use for that dress, and I don't want to be without it. Most other things though I like variety for.

    lol, once I bought something over the internet and put the order in 3 times because I thought it wasn't working. I got 3 packages, and it turned out the thing I ordered was absolute shit. -_-

    I'll only buy a backup if what I buy is perishable and I know it won't last for long. Or, in rare cases, if it's very cheap. But buying two or more things of everything (for fear of losing or damaging it) sounds a bit too much, unless you're extremely clumsy/forgetful. How often do you *actually* need your backup copy?

    That seems like I'd be accepting that I'd lose it or abuse it, which I wouldn't. Seems likei it would almost give me license to be careless, which I can't stand.
