Ill google a story and read it from some mainstream media posting. Then sometimes Joe Rogan, mark dice, or steven crowder will post a video on the subject and it will have their take on it. I like on alot of controversial things to get Mark Dice and Joe Rogans take on it. Joe Rogan is a democrat but he is good about calling out both sides issues. Mark Dice goes into conspiracy stuff more but he provides sources to how he came to that conclusion and you can verify it yourself if you dont believe it. Idk how Mark Dice hasnt been kicked off youtube.
Mostly I just hear about it first and then check up on random sites to hear about it in detail.
I am subscribed to tim pool so that just keeps me up to date with current events.
The stock market. If market indexes respond negatively to good news, or positively to bad news, then I know the news is fake.
I get it from the local town bulletin board. All kinds of flyers and phone numbers for everything imaginable; art events, babysitting services, power outage dates, missing cats... also Lenny the town drunk has all kinds of juicy gossip, when he's not passed out in the bushes.
I check a variety of news sources (including mainstream news) and then I also follow a number of very topic specific forums where I learn a lot of background information and can read debates about what something is or means among various other participants (and I participate in some of these forums).
I often find these forums provide better information overall than what is in the various news organization articles.
I like Breaking Points, BBC, USA Today. I try to steer clear of partisan news sites although that's almost impossible. Also, I'm skeptical of almost everything I take in. Sucks the media has become so terrible now.
A variety of sites. My go to is The Guardian, but I do regularly browse other major news organizations. I used to watch the YouTuber Philip Defranco for smaller news coverage but not as of late.
Independent sources. Crazier/more offensive the better because you know there's no corporate money backing those guys.
