I'm not American but I will give you my opinion for what it's worth.
The 1950s seemed to be a time of relative prosperity in the US, Europe was pretty much bankrupt after the 2nd world war. Life in America seemed so much more comfortable. White picket fences, Plymouth convertibles & drive in movie theatres. In the early 50s clothing was still rationed in the UK according to my mother.
The other time that springs to mind were the late 60s early 70s. When JFK announced that America was going to send men to the moon, and did. The Apollo space programme was almost certainly the pinnacle of US achievement & looking at the old movie reels Americans were bursting with pride as the world stood in awe.
The 1950's for sure. The best cars, homes, the economy was great, one parent could work while the other could stay home if they wished to. Families could spend time together and there was less distraction than we have now with the too much technology we have now.
The downside of the 50's was indeed racism. If we could bring back the pride in our country, family values and keep jobs here in our country and work/live together more peacefully, we could provide the same to others around the world. Speaking of the world - stay the fuck out of some other countries issues. Let them sort it out.
Stop giving billions to countries that are attacking and killing others, the ones who hate the USA (although there's many!) focus on giving to the nations who really need help, help them and make sure the money goes to what it's intended for. Ensure our dollars help them build themselves to become stable not relying on us and others each and every year.
The Gulf War ended early in the decade, making the 90's one of the most peaceful decades on the list.
I'm a 90s baby, but I don't think I'm biased when I say the 90s were the best. Great economy, peaceful relations with other countries, burgeoning technology and hope for the future, not to mention some great music and films, it was almost like like the 50s but not as racist.
The 50's in North America for sure. The economy was booming and people had money to burn. Then companies started sending manufacturing off shore and America has slid downhill since then to what is now.
The only hope is Trump's idea of convincing companies to come back with tariffs and duties if their products are made off shore. But get rid of the trade unions or ban strikes for higher pay as that is the reason companies went off shore for cheaper labor.
I noticed that the only decades with no votes is the 1930s (the depression) and this decade (probably because of the way the world's become now). I though that the 1940s would also be one of the least picked decades due to WW2.
Im gonna be a rebel and say the half decades of 1995-2005. The first 10 years of my life seemed so much simpler than today and not as racist or sexest as the 50s. Technology was mass evolving yet it was not controling our lives (social media). Music was in its prime and the fashion was so bad it came back! Sure the state of the country could have been better but atleast we wernt being run by an orange turnip.
The sex and inflatables were awesome in the 70s. I had a couple of nice motorcycles too.
