worst part of a plane crash would be listenin to all the panicky people screechin and freakin out while i calmly try to slug down my last ever bloody mary
ive always wanted to have the flight attendants announce 'can anyone back here land the plane' cause id land the shit outta that fucker no problem
i am serious and stop callin me shirley
Hypothermia ain't fun... Surviving it and losing limbs ain't better... so I chose smashing the ground at several hundred kilometers an hour in a giant tin can full of fuel.
Not correct. You will die from hypothermia (without treatment) anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours depending on the clothing you are wearing, your fitness level, and if you have just eaten some calorie rich food or not.
If I was on a ship that was sinking the 1st thing I would do would be to grab some very large chocolate bars (or similar) and start eating them. That gives you quick extra energy to fight off the cold (and hypothermia) for at least some time - which could be crucial in getting you into a life raft or other rescue.
Edit: Note I carry such chocolate bars in my car and also in my luggage as emergency food (and carry extra in the winter).
I've also fed one to a lady who's car had slid into a ditch and she had started to shiver (and it was well below O F (temperature, not wind chill). Then I took her to a restaurant and bought her a big meal full of all kinds of things against her diet... but she felt so much better and recovered (and survived without a trip to the hospital). Then we worked to recover her car.
Nosediving to your death seems pretty quick and painless (assuming that you actually die).
With a sinking ship, if you are not fortunate enough to make it onto an escape vessel, drowning frozen cold sound slow and painful.
Someone told me a war story once about a ship that was sunk, took 3 days for rescue, when they were air lifted out of the shark invested waters, those not eaten, the skin of the people literally peeled off from being wet for so long
So hours/days of torture
And any time a plane crashes there's that chance of an explosion and most, if not all, people die in a blaze of fire so hot they're charred in moments
So instant death is most likely
I guess I'd pick Titanic disaster, at least nowadays ships do have enough emergency rafts
But I'd really not likely be on a boat, I get motion sickness pretty bad. Only times I have been on a boat was in Jersey, fishing or just enjoying the water
How does a ship carrying supplies for one of two nuclear deterrents go missing for three and a half days and is discovered not by the ship's absence but by the crew treading water?!
its all explained in the article but short version is that the nuke cores had been delivered and they were on their way back to the left coast
they werent practicin evasive maneuvers cause the japs had surrendered unconditionally the prior week but the jap sub commander who torpedoed em hadnt got the memo yet or maybe just didnt give a fuck
there was some wacko jap soldier still hidin in the jungle on guam till the early 70s after all
they were pretty fanatical
Omg I remember reading about that, the dude had like 4 or 5 others with him surviving in the jungle or something thinking there were enemy soldiers gunning them down for decades, some of them died and some of them went back to civilization I think and after the fact he's just like "but I was a good soldier"
Probably the titanic disaster.
Because we would sink and freeze to death.
Death by plane crash thank you very much. I'd rather die semi-instantly than slowly watch a ship sink and freeze/drown to death in frigid ocean. Plus you'll hear and see all the people crying and going apeshit.
