Hardcore anime cosplayers at least have only mild delusions. Roleplaying as your favorite charicters, nothing wrong with that. Especially if you got the talent to build things from their depictions.

Furries on the other hand... ok so you build a fur suit because? You want to be or act like a space dog/dragon/cat thing. Ok fine I guess. What you actually think you have a soul of a furry. That's just complete mental delusion.

If you want to know the concrete difference just look up the success of furry conventions vs anime conventions. Spoiler alert furry conventions tend to be banned from a shit ton of venues and hotels and mostly end in abject failure. While anime conventions are mostly annual in big cities.
