Here in brazil, government sucks, most people are worthless, most teenagers are into criminal organizations. Our history is shitty. But at least people are free, theres no government whatching everything you do. The gastronomy is amazing, the nature as well. And if you're smart and have enough money, you can do whatever you want with absolutely no consequences.

    • Brazil has an untapped potential as a country though. You have lots of resources and a huge population. Your economy right now is comparable to Russia, but with competent leadership, motivation and education, you could hypothetically rival the United States instead.

Radical ass kissers. It's super rare, but you occasionally see people be okay with literally every decision as long as their preferred group is in charge.

I wouldn't say so for all of them. Turkey is nice so are the "horse peoples" like Mongolia and Kazakhstan.

            • Arab countries though? They must be shit, right? Can't find a single Arab country that I like. Maybe Egypt used to be cool before they turned Muslim though.

I'll take the second option. I'm already surrounded by bad people and I'm used to their shenanigans. A good government would be nice.

I don't think such a thing exists... Maybe if the government was an artificial intelligence, driven by progress and the well being of the citizens - yes.

But if it's people - someone always manages to fuck up the good thing.

Crap government also means easy ways to make money if you're willing to grease a few hands and do semi-shady business with semi-shady people. Not talking about serious criminal stuff... Think fixing "write off" cars and selling them as accident free, buying stuff destined for destruction and reselling it, bit of tax play...

To me godawful government could mean a lot of things like they just dont have much government so you dont get government programs which I actually prefer.

And the good government might give you abunch of shit but then after sales tax, fuel tax, income tax, and home owners tax you end up paying 70% of the money you make to the government.

The people in Canada are fine, it just really bugs me that people embrace the meme that Canadians are all 100% polite, respectful, open-minded saints of people. Some of the shittiest wastes of human flesh I've ever met were from Canada, but because people are fucking stupid they all just believe or pretend to believe that Canada = perfection incarnate and America = a soulless, sexist, racist, hell on earth that is apparently SO bad that people still flock to the country by the millions

I dont think canadians are a stereotype. That being said I like stereotypes and generalizing people. Of course theres assholes in Canada.

Just as america when compared to other countries people are considered to be overly nice. Doesnt make everyone nice all the time but the generalization is mostly positive.

I just dont use stereotypes to assume on regular individuals.

That's a good point--just because some people perpetuate the stereotype doesn't necessarily mean that they believe or support the stereotype. I live in a state where I feel like the population is lucky. It's not the middle of nowhere, it's not overcrowded like some major metropolitan areas, the economy is stable and surprisingly strong for a flyover state, and healthcare is far more accessible and affordable than in a lot of other places. Where I live certainly has its flaws, but overall I feel like we're more fortunate than some other places

Despite this, a ton of people from here have unironically jumped on the "Canada is the only good country and will be the inevitable savior of first world countries" bandwagon. The way they describe Canada to where we live, you'd think we live in an internment camp. My grandmother grew up in BC and Jesus Christ that province has got some toxicity problems

All in all, Canada's a good place to be in. There are a lot of great things about the country. I just wish the people around me could accept that yes, Canada can be totally great, but that doesn't automatically make everywhere else complete shit like so many of colleagues make it sound

I genuinely fear people here really fucking things up because they're striving for some unattainable utopia that doesn't exist anywhere, even Canada
