Which is the right way to pronounce 'penis'?

Well I usually pronounce it as 'pee-nuss' like pee and nuss the 'U' in nuss is the same like the one is purse.
But MY TEACHER pronounces it as 'panis' like Pen and Niece.
So which one is right? Or are they both wrong??

    The last syllable is proununced neither niss nor nuss in English, more of a 'ness' with the schwa (nondescript vowel sound).

    (pea/pee) + (niss) That's how I've always pronounced it. Pronouncing the last part as (nuss) always sounded incorrect and weird to me.
