So I want to know which pet people like the most. There are several advantages of keeping pets like safety & emotional stability.

Cats if you're calm, dogs if you're rowdy, avian if you have a lot of time and money, reptiles if you have self control, and small mammals are really for everybody, though rabbits and ferrets you need some time and routine.
I'm a dog guy, but I have an African Grey, two rats, and two cats, alongside the pup.
I'd love a fox for a pet but that can't happen in Australia where I live.
It really depends on your lifestyle, but I suppose I'll make a post about the animal I know. My friend lives the apartment life and has rats. If you get mice/rats they can be noisey, but they are brilliant pets. If you go the rat path, be careful to choose a friendly rat with a good personality. If you get mice, they're best in a small place because some of them tend to be escape artists and it's much easier to find them in a small home.
I like pets that communicate to some degree.. Dogs, cats and parrots fit the bill but the rest on the list are a bit other-worldly to me.
Dogs are very in tune with their owners. They are great pets but only if they are well trained and have a good temperament. I have met some dogs that are vicious assholes and I don't know why the owner wants it.
be careful if you keep racoons they are vicious.
My tough military vet uncle is scared of fucking racoons, he has a business fixing up people's houses and if he finds racoons living in the house he refuses to touch them he calls animal control.
