Which person deserved the plaque?

At my school there have been 3 people die in the past 4 years I've been here. Only one of them got a plaque, I want you to tell me which of these people you think was the one that deserved the plaque.

Person 1: Got kicked out of a party for being obnoxiously drunk. He walked into the woods in the middle of winter he pasted out and died from hyposthermia.
Person 2: Has had cancer since she was 9 and had been fighting it and struggling with it for a while. After 8 years of struggle she died.
Person 3: He committed suicide, some say it was because of a girl and some say it was because of bullying I'm not sure, all we know for sure is he ended his life.

Yes I know some of you may say none of them or all of them deserved a plaque, but only one got a plaque, and I'm wondering not which on you thought got it but which one you felt deserved to get the plaque.

Person 1 8
Person 2 53
Person 3 9

Person: 1 I have low regard for people who don't understand the concept of limiting their alcohol consumption. I want to feel sorry for them and I know I should feel bad for saying that because "everybody makes mistakes", but I've gone an entire lifetime without having been so horribly drunk that I couldn't figure out where I was sleeping. I'm sure most people could if they tried hard enough. Pass.

Person 2: I would say that they deserve the plaque. This person legitimately fought for their lives when they could have just as easily have given up and avoided years of pain.

Person 3: Not that I don't feel bad that this person was driven to suicide (a lot of people don't understand just how drastic a measure suicide is, even to people who commit it) but to me it almost seems like an insult to Person 2. Person 2 fought for their lives and would have gratefully switched places with Person 3; they would have rather been bullied or dumped than have to have fought a deadly chronic illness.

Person 3, despite what anyone could say about the nature of suicide, threw the gift of life back at the world and refused to appreciate the fact that they were (and yes, I am assuming) born with even a somewhat healthy body and some semblance of an opportunity to lead a normal life. Person 2 would have gladly taken their place.

Bear in mind, before the torches and pitchforks roll in, this is all my presumption. I can't say anything for sure because I don't know these three people but upon first glance, Person 2 wins.

I don't think any of them deserved the plaque. To some people #2 might seem a likely candidate but I think we should recognize achievements and not merely struggle without results. Frankly, extending your life for a few miserable years seems pointless to me. It's not like she helped society or had a positive impact.

The brave one. The one who fought the cancer.

    The other two don't.

I thought you meant dental plaque at first! Damn I can be stupid :P

Even apart from everything bananaface said, I guess it depends on which one suffered most. It sounds from your description like the second person suffered most, but it's hard to tell.

When I read the title, I wasn't sure what you were getting at with "plack". I thought you meant to say "plank" as in, "which person deserved the plank", like some sort of pirate thing, especially since the first line mentions people dying.D: You mean plaque, right?

And how is knowing the cause of their death enough to make a decision? You've given Person 1 a description which makes him sound like he might not deserve it, but for all we know he could have done loads of great things, been really charitable and other stuff like that. I'm not choosing.

    • Oh thank you, I didn't realize. I'm not the best speller so normally I look it up on google and it didn't correct me so I thought it was right. I changed it so people don't get confused.
The reason you don't know a whole lot about them is because I don't really know a whole lot about them. The first guy he was a senior when I was a freshman so I really didn't know him at all. All I know is why he died, I had heard stuff about him but I don't go on rumours so I did not put that in there. The 2nd person I sort of knew we were friends when we were younger before she got sick. But I didn't know her that well when she died. And the 3rd person he was in 3 of my classes in school but I didn't realize he was in them until I went into school that day and the guidance counelor was in 3 of my classes, so I didn't know him very well, though he was in a class of mine the year before and he seems fairly nice. I gave as much information as I had.

Ah right, it's just that I don't feel comfortable branding one of those as being worthy of a plaque when I know absolutely nothing about them other than how they died. Just seems like a bit strange question. Which one got the plaque, if you don't mind me asking?

        • The reason I asked the question is because the person my school gave a plaque to was person 1. To me it is enough, because if there were 3 people to die at your school/work and of those causes. Without really knowing any of them would it be the person of cancer, suicide or being drunk that deserved not even a plaque but the guy got a ceremony and we all got the day of school. Where as with 2nd person it was just a notebook in the hall that we could write a note to the parents about and the 3rd person it was a guidance cousilour coming into the classes he used to be in and talk to us. Me personally without knowing them (which the school didn't really know them that well either) the girl with cancer deserved the plaque she's the one who faught and suffered for so many years.

My ex wife Pam. She should be #4 on your survey. So I'm submitting her name as a write in. She deserves the majority of votes.
