The mean and strict one because from them you actually learn something because they won't tolerate you not learning. And probably because deep down inside that really mean teacher cares about your education. That is the reason they are strict.

I'd like a teacher who is:
    1. Easygoing and generally nice
    2. Is not a welcome mat for students
    3. Cares whether we actually learn or not
    4. Incorporates humour into their teaching
    5. A source of constant motivation for students

(Bonus if the teacher is hot or elderly.)

What use is a teacher if they don't teach? Now I might not mind a useless teacher if I just want free take of all the materials and I am already very good at the subject. However generally a teacher should teach you. A good teacher is not mean. A good teacher is strict but helpful. I had teachers who were mean and strict and simply abused the students. They only tuaght those who picked up what they were teaching quickly. If you did not pick it up you were not allowed to ask questions. If you did ask questions you were demeaned and humiliated in front of the class.

Teaching on a blackboard in a room full of kids who only share your age but nothing else is totally archaic IMO. Khanacademy + thenewboston etc are the way to go. Learn what interests you and what you naturally are good at and at your own pace. Less bullying also.

I had a teacher in High school that taught my AP Psyche class and she was phenomenal. Not really all that strict either. She enforced basic rules very kindly and rather than force education on the students, she created an atmosphere that made you want to participate and learn. It was her teaching methods that really made it a great experience though. She had the art of putting information in peoples heads down to a science. As long as I kept with her suggested routine I would get 100's on quiz's and tests.
She taught me what it was like to LEARN, not memorize.

Teacher who is able to get all the children to pass and teaches well. A teacher who does not scare the children so they are too scared to ask a question when they need assistance. A good teacher will not be mean in scary if they are actually doing the job and like the job they do. I like them to be polite and proper but not horrible at teaches. I would not really want them to be my friend but they need to be able to teach. Since if you are not learning anyways who gives a fuck about going at all? You are just wasting your time? Oh yes and one that would possibly give me a reccomendation for work if I asked them too. Which the teachers who like me sometimes would anyways.

Well, I've had nice and patient teachers who can teach really well and improved my grades a lot! Doesn't mean they're not strict, they can't teach. They patiently give examples and explain it another way when I don't understand and crack jokes there and then that I don't fall asleep. This style works better for me than pressure.

"Helpful and good teacher who is strict"

One of my teachers in college really knows her stuff when it comes to computers. She taught in both computer science and information systems, and was specifically the department head.

but when it came to her rules they were very strict but fair... she told us the rules upfront and even in writing (course expectations).

Things like "Late = 0" (although in one of her courses it was 20% off for each day late).

and on top of that she wouldn't let students run roughshod over her. when one kid with an attitude problem tried turning a web design class into his political forum he found out quickly that she would not tolerate it and that SHE would have the last word

  • I like a teacher that involves more in the student and helps them.
They have to be strict enough to keep the class quiet.
They dont waste the first half hour of the class talking nonsense.
Use understandable language and not that complicated language that people like me dont understand.
A teacher that motivates me and make the class more fun.

    And so much more...

My favourite teacher was the one who made me laugh. But the best teacher was the one who kept us back until 8pm every night when her night school classes began and she switched attention to them. We all disliked her regime at the time but, in retrospect, I can't believe how much she gave up to make sure we did well. None of us ever thanked her. I know she's not here but I like to publicly thank her anyway.
