Who got bullied the most at your school?

When I went to school (I finished a few years ago) it was usually the really nerdy students who got bullied the most. On the other end of the spectrum everyone seemed to really like the gay and dumb students.

Who got bullied the most at your school?

The nerdy students 38
The students from a minority ethnic group 11
The dumb students 18
The gay students 23
The fat students 39

  • At my very small Anglo school, the people who were gay were some of the most popular people in my school. Although, none of them came out until after they graduated.

The nerdy students: they were only harassed when they would speak up in class because they would usually say something that was either too intelligent or something socially immature.

The dumb students: were laughed at, which would happen when they tried to act impressive in order to be friendly. Generally, though, people thought it was wrong to pick on the cognitively challenged kids.

The ethnic minority groups: There was one Indian girl who was picked on for smelling of curry, but she was also a nerd and, if she had not been a nerd, she probably never would have been picked on for being Indian (weird and horrible, I know). There was also a Czech girl who was teased occasionally for being loud, tall, and ugly; some of her awkwardness came from feeling self-conscious about her cultural heritage. Then there were all of the Aboriginal students and, even though they kept to themselves a lot, they were just as popular as any of the other students. They also made up about 1/5th of the school population.

The fat students: There was only two obese students in my whole school. One was extremely popular ( and Aboriginal); however, he never had a girlfriend. The other student was very unpopular and treated with avoidance by most people. She was also friendly and intelligent--in a very mature way, so she had the respect of a lot of people too.

Being different in my school would automatically draw unwanted attention but, ultimately, it was usually the personality of the student which provoked bullies to harass them. Confidence and mellow humour was a great repellent. But, it shouldn't have to be like that. Bullying was ignored by the faculty in my school.

Bullies will always exist at school, but the number of incidents could be reduced significantly if children are educated about bullying, starting in elementary school. They need to be taught how to deal with a bully in case they are ever bullied. And they should also be taught what to do when they are the bystander watching someone else be bullied (most bullies will stop if a few of their peers actively disapprove). And I think any student caught bullying should be punished, as well as educated about bullying and why someone like them bullies other kids.

Right? Bullying should have severe consequences similar to how some principles and teachers have no tolerance for students using their cellphones in class, or being present in school without an identification badge.

Computer nerds. Which is quite ironic seeing as nowadays everybody is a computer nerd

All of the above except for nerds - they hung out in large groups so people generally left them alone.

My school was the "rich kid school out of the four in the county. So usually the "poor" kids who wore the same thing every day were picked on the most and under them were the gay/lesbians. But that school was full of a bunch of rich snobs. I dreaded school because of them- so rude.

The only people i can recall getting picked on hardcore were these two annoying girls that thought they were better than half of the student population and would constantly be going to teachers grassing people up. They would constantly say it was because they were gay, it wasn't because of that,(there were plenty of people that were gay in our year, me included, that weren't bullied for their sexuality and were well liked)it was literally because they were annoying twats that walked around like their shit didn't stink.

There wasn't much bullying at my school. Or at least I didn't notice it that much. But if someone was bullied, they were mostly nerds. I've seen a geeky guy who used to cry sometimes in the changing rooms. Right outside of gym.

I wish i could go back to high school and watch all the 'popular kids' making fun of the 'nerds' whilst wearing one of them stupid DORK or GEEK t-shirts everyone except dorks and nerds have been wearing.

I been to multiple schools. The first school was need name brand close, three story house, an expensive car and some kind of Iproduct if you did not have it you are dogshit. The second school it was who looked rich and preppy.

The third was who wasn't getting laid went that school for two years. The fourth was well no one really got picked on at this school. However I did have the hang out that was deemed the weird kids area but there was a lot of us so it didn't matter.

I do have a lot of bitchy Ex,s. I do not know if anyone has had these before. They will make your life a living hell! Even if they initiated the break up. Everyone hated the staff at that last school though.

Unfortunately, two of my gay friends got picked on. It's sad that such intolerance still exists.

There really wasn't much bullying at all at in middle school or high school (or I was completely oblivious). My schools were mostly the cliquey type. There were the nerds, jocks, and all other types. We all just kind of lived peaceably alongside each other. Looking back, I was probably extremely fortunate in that respect.

There were of course jokes made at someone's expense, but they were rather evenly distributed.

  • I absolutely LOVED to give nerds wedgies and break their glasses, turning them upside down and sticking their head in the toilet. Oh and, locking them up somewhere was fun too.
    Those were fun times!
I don't know about the gays though. No one ever came out as gay during high school. Lucky for them, Because i would've done much worse things to them than the things stated above.
